Who can I talk to regarding my mental health?!

Question: Who can I talk to regarding my mental health!?
What kind of 'professional' people can I talk to about my mental health(depression)!? I usually wouldn't talk to anyone about things like this if it only happens once or twice, but I am beginning to feel depressed more and more often!. I should really get some help before it gets out of hand!. I'm in Australia and only 16!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A psychiatrist, a therapist, a guidance counselor, a spiritual counselor, a member of the clergy!.

All are good choices, it's just whatever you feel most comfortable with!.

A psychiatrist or a therapist will cost you money, and here in the States you must be 18 to see one with parental supervision!.

If your school has a counselor, see him or her!. It's a good start!. If they can't help you, they'll find someone who can!.

If you are religious, talk to a member of the clergy in your church!. Even if you don't go to church or have a religion any clergy member can help you out a lot!. It's kind of weird going to a church for the first time, but most who truly love God will do anything and everything to help you!. Yes, they're professionals, too!.

A spiritual counselor will talk to you differently than a doctor or someone from a church!. And if you are lucky and find a good one who truly believes what they teach than they will help you free of charge!.

Good luck! Just find somebody to let it out!. Sometimes a few simple words of advice can go a long way before you get too depressed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi!. Am sorry to hear you're feeling this way!. A good start is recognising that you're feeling depressed and a willingness to seek help!.

You can talk to your school counsellor, who may refer you to a therapist/psychologist!. Or you can go directly to a therapist/psychologist and talk things through!. If they feel you need medication etc, then they will refer you to a psychiatrist!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would first talk to a therapist, if you do not want to take antidepressants!. Sometimes they make you feel better without medication!. But if your depression is severe enough that the therapist does not fully help, talk to your doctor!. I personally, talked to my doctor, got medication and also saw a therapist!. After three weeks with the therapist, I was off the medication!. I saw the therapist for only two months!.

It is up to you whether you seek out a therapist or your docor first!. They both know what to do to make you better!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your school probably has counselors that you can talk to for free!. They can recommend you to someone more regular you can see perhaps!.

Depression is extremely common, especially among teens!. There are plenty of resources!. You just need to open the door by asking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Very good thinking to seek someone to talk to!. Do you have school counselors!? They can be a good starting point because you don't need to go out of your way to see them and they can refer you to more specialized professionals if they think that would better suit your needs!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
