My nephew believes that his room ishaunted, and he wont sleep in there unless someone is sitting in there with him, and even then its a handful and a half to get him to sleep!. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to not be afraid of his room!?

You might start by asking him what the ghost or whatever looks like!. I know it's not that unusual for a small child to become afraid of the dark or things that go bump, and for the most part, it's an imagination issue and stress over things they don't understand!. You will have to use your judgement on this matter, but do stay open to the possibility that something might actually be there you can't percieve!. If he's just recently been watching tv shows about ghosts and hauntings, it's possible the idea was planted!. On the other hand, if he hasn't been watching- it's just as possible there is something!. If you are a religious person, or at least he is- you can try praying to God to remove the whatever from the room!. If you are Catholic, you can ask the priest to come bless each room of the house!. If you aren't, sometimes your pastor will still come bless a house!. And I suppose if all else fails, you can contact a paranormal to come check things out!. They are all pretty sensitive to the needs of a child, and will work with you to help settle them!. By refusing to accept his explanations, you could be isolating him in his fear!. In the end, it doesn't matter if you believe the room is haunted, because he does!. He's trusting you to come up with a solution, not to try to force him to adapt!. Even if you absolutely are sure nothing is there, you still need to start with accepting he does, and tell him you believe him!. You then can work to remove the presense he believes is there!. First accept his word, and then you can work on removal efforts!. If it really is a matter of a fear of the dark- a flashlight under the pillow works well sometimes, as will a nightlight!. A picture of a guardian angel, and a cross necklace can also help sometimes!. Whatever you do, don't just force him to stay in there alone, with nothing but his fear!. Even if it means letting him sleep elsewhere until you can fix matters in the room itself!. It's more important for him to have you believe him, and want to help!. Little ones don't expect you to have all the answers all the time, they just want you to help or at least try to help!. That alone can buy you time to fix matters!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try buying him a couple night lights or leave his light on at night!. It may help him to be less afraid if he can see every thing!. Another thing thatv worked with my cousin is when you bring him into his room turn on some music that he likes so that he pays more attention to the music then his fear of the room!. One of my friends used to be afraid ghosts were in here room and she would not go in her room alone!. So her mom got a spray bottle, filled it with water and a sweet smelling perfume, then she used some paper and made a cover that said ghost be gone!. She sprayed it all around the room and then my friend thought that the ghosts were gone and when ever she got nervous she would have her mom fill the bottle and respray here room!. Well i hope this helps good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if you ask me, sitting in the room with him will help him sleep, but it not worth it for you!. how old is your nephew!? ask him how it is haunted and explain how he is being silly, without putting him down int he process!. and try, if you would like, to ask him to join you searching for anything haunted in his room with the old "lets filter out the monsters together" technique"!. i hope this helps, and try to make a point to not let him watch haunted movies! have a good night sleep!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i used to have that and i STILL DO even though im in my teen years!. What works for me is keeping the light on, but since you don't want to get your hydro bill going flying through the sky-- get a small nightlight for him!. Maybe even a stuff animal depending on his age will help and give him comfort!. Also, stick those glow-in-dark starts on his ceiling--- not only they give light but it gives a calm atmosphereWww@Answer-Health@Com

Try making his room a place that he thinks is enjoyable, happy pictures on the walls, games or books he enjoys, possibly a nightlight!. The more time he spends in there by himself or with friends might ease his fear!. Don't expose him to anything scary, even some cartoons can be emotionally daunting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try by putting a night lite in there, or leave a tv on!. tell him that he is too sweet to be haunted!. i hope you luck!. i went thru it with my 4 year old!. night lite worked for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well all children are afraid of something and theres nothing we can really do to stop them from being afraid nor should we try we should just support them until they realize that there is nothing to be afraid ofWww@Answer-Health@Com

"monster spray"-spray bottle of his favorite scent or little dab of your perfume!. say monsters are afraid of it!.

night light!.

we watched "monsters inc"!. my kids know there r good monsters too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

he may very well be able to "see" spirits!. They say children can see them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe you could try giving him a 'magic light' or any sort of toy that lights up!. Tell him that if anything trys to get him all he has to do is use his magic light to make them go away!.You may want to try and figure out why he thinks it's haunted-could he be hearing the pipes in the wall or an A!.C unit!?If thats it switching his room could be an option!. Just rember above all not to take his fears lightly!.Sometimes the more you tell um the rooms not haunted the worse they feel beacuse they feel like you don't belive them!. Keep this in mind!.Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

right when he is about to go to sleep, say "i hear something in the closet!!" and run into the closet and shut the door!. throw stuff around in there and make sounds as if you were fighting something!. after a few seconds, come out and say "whew! that monster was tough but after i was threw with him, he is never coming back! that monster was really scared of me!" then reassure your nephew that he is safe because you beat that monster!. put on a night lite for him and make sure to make him laugh before you leave the room!.

this worked on my cousin but it really depends on thier age!. if your nephew is older (like 8 or 9) then maybe it really is haunted!! :P just put on some soothing music while they sleep and that should help

or you could try to redecorate his room!. this may sound odd but maybe the position of his bed or even the color of his walls could make him afraid!. when i was younger i could never sleep because my bed was in the middle of the room and i always felt that someone was watching me!. now my bed is against a wall and i just feel!.!.!.better when i sleep!. also try to paint his walls a baby blue!. this will make him feel more calm and relaxed in his room!. try to take anything out of his room that could make him scared (like maybe his desk lamp casts a scary shadow on his wall!.!.!.)!. my advice, try everything and anything you can think of! hope i helped!Www@Answer-Health@Com
