Serious answers only please....?!

Question: Serious answers only please!.!.!.!.!?
I am a teacher in a small town and I am bipolar but am totally stable because of my meds!. Nobody knows about it except my psychiatrist!. I just saw my class list for next school year and I saw that her daughter is going to be in my class!. Do you think this ill make things really awkward!? Should I try to have my administrators place the student in one of our other classes!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Dr!./client privilege should cover this one!. Not only should you be protected from your Dr!. sharing your info with others without your consent, I believe your Dr is not allowed to discuss your info with anyone including his/her family!.

On the other hand you might be under another level of extra scrutiny from your Dr!. for instance if discipline issues arise and you have to discipline his/her daughter!. I have seen first hand what nit-picky parents can do to a teachers career!. You may be opening yourself up to difficulty!. On the other hand you do have legal recourse if you can prove that your Dr!. is using your private and privileged information against you!. Yes, this could be an awkward situation!. Avoid it if you can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, usually their is a such thing as patient/doctor privacy!. If your psychiatrist has mentioned something to the daughter, I doubt the girl will mention anything like that in class!. You dont think she would want to get her teacher upset (since you handle grades), plus most kids dont think anything of it!.
But stop stressing out, there is a really good chance the doctor didnt single you out and talk about you over family dinner!. So dont worry about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Before talking to the administrator talk to the psychiatrist about this!. Ask her what she feels about having her daughter in your class, you might just be worried for nothing!. If you go right to the administrator you would have to give a reason and people in a small town talk even thought there not suppose to it might!. Which will end up being more awkward than having your psychiatrist daughter in your class!. Hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com

I am also a teacher in a small town and know what you mean!.!.i go to another town to get my meds!. filled cause i know how people talk!. I think your administrator will want to know why she may need to be in another class!. You might ask your dr!. how she feels about the daughter being in your class!. you never know, she may want her in there!. Put yourself in her place, would you take your child to her for professional care!? I would talk to her before i talked to my principal!.
Hope everything works out!.

Does the child know that you are a patient of her parent's!? If not then I don't see where it would be any different than any other child!. If it causes you stress thinking about it though you may need to talk to the psychiatrist about it!. You don't want to cause yourself problems and being bipolar you know that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you have a solid doctor who has done a great job of helping you out of your mood disorder!. I'm inclined to think that such a professional would never share information with children!. I also think that things should be fine as long as you let the doctor know that you'll be happy to discuss the child at appropriate times- meetings and such at school!. But any sessions that you pay for and are supposed to be about you need to keep their focus!. If the child comes up you need to firmly, but kindly, remind the doctor that you aren't there to talk about that and he/she can make an appt!. with you for later, just like you do with the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you do that won't they ask for a relevent explaination!.i thought patient doctor confidentiality would prevent your doctor discussing a patient with anyone let alone his school age child!.if he /she thought you were not more than able would'nt he/she have removed the child themself
although it will be strange on day one two three you will probably be so into the routine by week two that they will become just another pupil
also unless you feel it does effect your wellbeing i would'nt even mention it to your doctor!. but go with your own gut instinct,
very best wishes with what ever you decide and good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

If you are o!.k!. on your meds, I don't see a reason to place the child in a differrent class!. If you are stressing about it though, bring it up to the Doc and see if he has any concerns!. I have been told that mental illness is like any other so!.!.!.!.Would you have a student moved if you had diabetes and your Dietician was the father!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unless your psychiatrist practices out of her home, the daughter shouldn't even know you're her patient!. I think the only thing that might be awkward is parent-teacher conference night!. Will you show favoritism to this child to avoid upsetting the psychiatrist parent!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just pretend she is like any other student!. She wont know who you are, and it will be like it always is!. It will only be a problem if you make it one!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, of course not!. Therapists, like doctors, have a code of confidentiality!. Don't worry about it!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

your psychiatrist can not give out that information nor would she!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

really what your psy chiatrist knows about your health should go no further than her or your gp!.you are right to worry!.i would tell her this, and im sure she will put your mind at rest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
