Do psych meds affect your ability to do sophisticated mental tasks?!

Question: Do psych meds affect your ability to do sophisticated mental tasks!?
When i was on Celexa i felt like a dullard!. i have a couple friends who were on different SSRI's who felt the same way - could perform general, no-brainer types of activities but anything requiring speed and accuracy or technical precision, they felt the meds hampered their ability!.

Anyone on psych drugs who CAN think as quickly as before!? Or do you feel like it dulls your thinking!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Those kinds of meds effect everyone differently!. They take a while for your body to get used to them and have all different side effects!. The one you described happened to me also!. I also felt a deep void while on them!. No emotion, which is one of the reasons I stopped!. But remember you have to give them a chance to work and for your body to get used to them!.

Take care and don't give up!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it relaxes me more!.!.!.not worrying about every little thing!. More mellow!.!.!.so it could impair ability to be accurate or technically precise since sometimes your so relaxed you don't feel the need to be perform as you did before!. I know my hubby says I am a lot more chill these days, as before I was a perfectionist about everything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I take Cymbalta and havent seen any difference!. It was when I stopped taking it for awhile that I felt I couldnt concentrate on things, and couldnt even form some words correctly, like I would be talking and a word just came out sounding like mush!. But now that I am back on it again I feel I am doing better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that they dulled my creativity!. I'm an artist and writer, and both just came to a screeching halt while I was on them!. I was otherwise able to function better--I procrastinated less!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thats a good thing to ask when you start with the meds I noted the same thing with the same medWww@Answer-Health@Com

They sharpened my thinking! Before I was fast but now I feel quick as lightning!Www@Answer-Health@Com
