Do You Think That the Internet Encourages Agrophobia???!

Question: Do You Think That the Internet Encourages Agrophobia!?!?!?
Watching people under 30 virtually chained to the internet I ponder at whether the internet actually fosters agrophobia!?

I mean, when I was younger you couldn`t keep me indoors!. Even more I have devised a job which keeps me outside and walking!.

I thrive on exercise, the outdoors, etc!.

But when I look at these youngsters and I mention (casually), `it`s a great day out!. Why not go to the park or for a walk`, they just stare blankly!.

Something tells me a negative side effect of love of computer is that it nurtures a consequent fear of the outdoors!.

Agrophobia!?

What do you think!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think the internet can cause agoraphobia!.
Phobias are usually a response to a traumatic event that has happened to someone rather than a response to something they're not doing!.
Unfortunately, it is actually the fear of violence that often keeps them indoors - young people are increasingly the victims of violence on the streets!.
What computer use is causing is a loss of social skills, particularly face to face conversation skills and conflict resolution!. I am also concerned that young people have very poor vocabulary these days - they often don't understand words and phrases in quite common usage!. ( as can often be seen on this forum)!. They also expect everything to be immediate and have lost the skill of patience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Fear of the outdoors !? Not really!.!.!. I think that the net/comps is too much fun for anyone under 30!.!.!.'less they're the type to spend lots of time outdoors!.!.!. You need to be raised early on to adopt that kind of a life though I guess!.!. When I was a kid I liked to be inside w/ the ladies!.!.!. I wasn't encouraged to go outside much!.!.!. Basically I was only asked/told to go outside to keep my company at bay!.!.!. :s That's how it was w/ my other friends (males) too!. Their moms didn't want us coming inside either!.!.!. Basically it seemed like something I HAD to do to keep my friends outside!.!.!. or to do something like hang laundry!.!.!. That's the reason why I'VE never been much of an outdoorsy gal!.!.!.

That's my story & I'm sticking to it ! :PWww@Answer-Health@Com

i think that being outside is a great learning experience for kids!.!.!.heck, when i was little, we didnt have cable or internet, so all we did was read or play outside!. agrophobia could be possibly brought on by spending too much time indoors, but i think that this disorder is actually pushed upon people!.!.!.a child wont have agrophobia unless someone forces them to stay inside constantly!.!.!.jus my opinion!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is a huge difference between choosing to stay inside on the computer and not being able to go out because of the sheer horror of going outside!.

Computers of course keep more people inside, but agoraphobia is an illness!. Do computers make you ill!? They might give you a headache if you spend too long on them or sore wrists, but agoraphobia!? no way!Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, it doesn't encourage this!. it may make you addicted to it, but that's not a case of agoraphobia!. it can even help with some cases, it can give you support, offer you communication for instance when you're 'prisoner' at work, just to be there and with nothing to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People wouldn't develop a fear of the outside world, but they can develop dependancy of the computer world!. People just loose a sense of outside stimulus, that to me is all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Perhaps!. But fear not, hand-held devices are getting much better, so pretty soon we'll all be able to go outside and still be on YA! Terrific!Www@Answer-Health@Com
