Question: Any suggestions!? 10 points best answer!!?
I just feel like everyone is out enjoying life and i'm just resenting the fact i'm still here!. I should be happy(and when i'm drunk or on drugs i am!) but i can't remember the last time i truely had a good time and enjoyed myself!.!.must be months now!.
I recently began going to the doctor about self harm because it was all getting a bit out of hand!.!.!.now i go for appointments every two weeks!. My doctor thinks psychotherapy will help!.!.!.!.what is that!?!?

I have tried MANY times to snap out of this!.!.!.seriously, i've really tried!. I've just turned into a such a pathetic person and all i do is mope arond all day!. I cant think of what else to do now!.!.!.i decided last week not to go out at nights so i wont drink/do drugs!. In the past i've just put on a 'happy face' and got on with things pretending like everything was ok, i've got a job to keep me busy, cleaned the house!. I don't know what else to do!.
Any suggestions!?

No your not pathetic, pathetic would be someone who is in your state and doesn't try to change it or just continues with harmful behavior oblivious to the idea that life can and is better sober!.
I've been there, I was a person who drank and danced every night with the wrong and drama crazy crowd!. When I changed life seemed to be a bore for awhile!. Whenever there is a drastic time of change (I've been through many: divorce, military, moved 11xs in a year!.!.!.) there is a a down time which can be very healthy if you let it!. It's a good time to reflect on what you learned and what you want to change and how you're going to do just that!. After you get started you'll begin to find more things to enjoy in life!.
Some ideas are: Volunteer (you meet allot of good people and you feel good for doing good), go to comedy shows, dance, get a work out routine, go to school to learn something that interests you, become part of a church (they always need help), put a model together, go for a drive to anywhere or nowhere for a couple of days and talk to strangers there to find out what there is to do in their neck-of-the-woods, learn a sport, do pottery, origami, wood carving, cooking, take walks in all the parks in your city !.!.!.
As for psychotherapy it's basically: a doctor gets to know you well enough to give you the best help to get you where you want to be in life, your situation happier!.
I find happiness is a whole lot perspective!. For example, I have a good paying job with allot bull I have to deal with!. Some days I get real frustrated, then I think of the times when it was worse and the poor people all around the earth who don't even have clean drinking water! That gets me over it, I soon see how blessed I really am!. I also notice if I compare myself to people around me that brings my mood down or sometimes up but it is never a fair comparison!. This is because we can't tell how people really feel on the inside, some of the most depressed people I know are great joke tellers at parties and have generally a wonderful life!. A psychotherapist should be able help you see life more clearly!. It pretty much never hurts to just see what they have to say!.

You kinda sound like how i was a few months ago(although i wasn't on drugs or drinking)!. When i was in my sophmore and senior years of highschool i felt so depressed and so disconnected from everything, basicly i didn't know who the heck i was!. I think i just was getting tired of doing the same ruiten everyday!. I went to the doctors to and they told me the same thing, but i didn't go!. I decided i was the only one that was going to chnage me so since sports always made me feel better and gave me better self esteem i joined volleyball and i slowly started coming out of it!. Your not pathetic and maybe you'll feel better when you stop drinking and doing drugs but i wouldn't know about that!. Just find something you used to enjoy and start doing it again, even if you'd rather sit on the coach or lay inbed and take a nap!.!.!. the only way you'll feel better is if you force yourself!. a lot of people who are depressed will do things to hide their true feelings,by putting on that happy face,so no one will worry or think less of them,sometimes they even do it,so they will not get bullied by others,you know call them names and stuff!.People do sometimes turn to drugs and alcohol to numb out the pain they are feeling,which doesn't last long and they could even find themselves in worse situations when the high goes away!.Psychotherapy is where you talk to someone who is trained in working with people who have problems and help them by addressing what might be causing the feelings which are causing them to harm,cause this is also another way a person tries to deal with the pain and hurt,which is inside,by self harming they feel it is a way of releasing the pain,which is inside them!.If you talk to someone about what is bothering you it will help you not have to hide those feelings inside,which can lead to urges to self harm!.Maybe your doc can find a support group in your area that you can go to or perhaps check out some online ones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wish I could answer what "psychotherapy" is but I have no idea!. I can tell you that alot of people use drugs and drinking to escape their reality that they are living in!. It sounds like you might be depressed, and making matters worse by taking the drugs or drinking because those things are a quick fix for the moment but the afterwards is what hits you the hardest!. The depression only gets worse!. Try not using for a while take up an activity for yourself that uses up your time and maybe allows you to connect with other people that don't have habits like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
