Question: My friend has a dissacociative disorder, how do I help!?
When she stresses out, her brain shuts off!. How do I help!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You can help her by encouraging her to practice some grounding techniques when her brain "shuts off"!. Choose some of these techniques in advance and talk about them with her!. One simple example of a grounding technique involves an ice cube!. Ask her to hold it in her hand on focus only on the feeling of the ice cube in her hand!. The idea of grounding techniques is to choose one sense (e!.g!., touch, smell, hearing) and MAGNIFY a simple aspect of it!. It can be amazingly helpful in assisting a dissociative person to ground/anchor themselves in the present!.

Best of luck,
