Therapy isn't working for me but I enjoy going. Please read and help?!

Question: Therapy isn't working for me but I enjoy going!. Please read and help!?
I've been seeing a therapist for the past five months, once a week!. I enjoy going because I can talk to her and she is super nice!. The thing is I can't be too open and honest with her!. It's not that I don't trust her, it's just that I don't know if I should say certain things to her because I want to progress rather than go back!. I'm feeling like it's really not working for me!. I feel really depressed sometimes and I cry at nights and other times I am okay!. I have great friends that are there for me and listen but it just isn't the same as a therapist!. I like therapy but I'm not getting better!. What else can I do!? I don't want to be on meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You're getting better!.

In therapy, in order to progress, you often have to go back!. You're in therapy because of issues in the past that are causing you anxiety and depression right now!. You don't mention what certain things you don't want to say to her, and that's okay!. If they're issues of past mental or physical abuse, sexual abuse, eating disorders, or drug/alcohol problems, they will always be there!. Talking to someone about them, however, will release some of that pressure!. It may hurt at first, but you will heal!.

Everyone's depressed sometimes, and most people cry sometimes!. Especially young people!. Sometimes there's a black core of pain inside you, and you want to burrow into it!. Many of us have been there!.

Your therapist knows there are things you aren't telling her!. Most therapists know that it can take months for a patient to begin talking about underlying issues because of embarrassment, guilt, anger, or just plain reluctance!.

Your therapist has heard it all!. Please feel free to open up to her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you don't open up, you will not go forward!. Therapy is difficult!. It is not about just having nice conversation if you want it to be effective!. You may be protecting yourself from the difficulty of opening up, but if you don't, you won't get much out of the process!. If you've gotten this far and like your therapist, trust her to know how to get you through the hard parts without it being unbearably difficult on you!. That is why she is a professional!. She knows how to do that!. You just have to trust that she does!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
