I think my friend may be going mentally ill?!

Question: I think my friend may be going mentally ill!?
So I have this friend, we'll call him "E"!. Recently he was sent off to a rehab type thing for six months by his parents!. He was seriously ruining his life by doing to many drugs (mostly marijuana, but branching further)!. Well, now he is back!. We are friends, and usually he is cool, but last time I hung out with him I noticed some very disturbing symptoms, and I'm afraid if he keeps up his current lifestyle he may become psychotic!.

He was drunk when I picked up, as well as high!. He was very emotional, but I figured this might have been from the drinking!. Later that night, there was a moment when he kept repeating "no no no no no" and I asked him if he was alright and he didn't respond!. The tone of his voice and look on his face was frightening!. Also, later that same night, he was craving a ciggarette so bad he couldn't even walk!. And he kept going on and on about how the tobacco was keeping him from doing thing he wants to do!. He is not in good shape!. Do you think he's going crazy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Your friend IS mentally ill: he is addicted to different types of drugs, at least alcohol (which he is NOT old enough to buy, let alone use) and marijuana, if not more!. He has relapsed from his rehab, and needs to go back into treatment IMMEDIATELY, before he hurts/kills himself or anybody else!.

If he was placed into rehab against his will, then he may have never wanted to be clean and sober to begin with!. His alcohol and drug use are his way of dealing with life and its disappointments!. If he was happy, would he be doing drugs!?

If you want to help your friend, help him to see that he needs to be sober, and that he needs help to get there!. Removing the drugs is only one step!. He needs to deal with the issues that drove him to self-medicate in the first place!.

Buckle up!. The ride can get very rough!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He needs to go back to rehab!.It sounds like he was just really messed up that night which is really easy to do if you hadnt done anything in 6 monthsWww@Answer-Health@Com

He is in need of more help!. Just try not partying with him anymore, and watch him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Is it possible he has PTSD from the treatment at rehab!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am assuming you have known this person for a good while and his behavior while drunk and high have become very strange to you!. It would be difficult to say that someone has a mental disorder of any kind if they are under the influence of drugs!. What is this person behavior like when he is completely sober!? If he is talking completely normal when he is sober then he is probably reacting very badly to the drugs!. There is some current research that indicates if a teenager has a near relative with schizophrenia and he smokes marijauana it is very likely he too will develop schizophrenia!. Unfortunately, there is little you can do but offer your support
and encourage him to stay clean and sober!. He is going to need your freindship!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
