Does seeing a psychiatrist actually help people get better?!

Question: Does seeing a psychiatrist actually help people get better!?
In this case, does seeing a psychiatrist actually help with depression, separation anxiety, things like that!? I was wondering if seeing one would actually benefit the person at all (I'm trying to help a friend)!. I saw a psychiatrist for my PMDD and she did not help me at all!. Was it because I thought it was not going to be helpful (It really seems to me it wasn't)!? She did not really give any helpful info or suggestions as far as I'm concerned!.

So I just wanted to know if seeing a psychiatrist can actually help a person benefit or change in the long run!? Is it just power of positive thinking for the best!? How do they help depression and separation anxiety!? I hope for my friend to be able to cope/understand his situation better or change for the best!.

Any help!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

A good psychiatrist can really be of great help!. In many cases, they have saved lives and helped people overcome severe depression and other mental problems!.

You have to go with the attitude that they can help and also be willing to listen and help your self!. They can only give you suggestions but you have to do the homework!. In many cases they can prescribe medication that will help!. But, medicine alone will not usually work!. It takes the help from the doctor, the effort of the patient and sometimes medicine!.

If I were you, I would recommend that my friend get professional help!. The sooner the better!. Good luck!. and your friend is very fortunate to have someone care as much as you do!. You are a great friend and they are hard to find!. :)

One thing for sure, It will not hurt anything!. You have nothing to lose by going for help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Psychiatrists are MDs and usually do medication and medical management!. Some do therapy, but knowing the bed side manner of docs in general, one would not be my choice!. (I love my psychiatrist, btw, just don't think she'd be the best therapist!.)

Therapists and psychologists are the talk docs!. It's about the rapport established and working issues over time!. In order for it to really work, the person has to be willing to trust enough to really open up!. There is nothing easy about doing serious therapy!. Of course, in order to trust, the sense of competence has to be there!. If it isn't, shop around!. Some therapists are very good, others are mediocre!.

So, yes is my answer it helps with the right therapist and with a person who will commit and stick with it thru the difficult parts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Psychiatric treatment can certainly change people's lives for the better, but only if they keep themselves well informed and are assertive in finding doctors and treatments that are right for them!.

Antidepressant medication can help severe anxiety and depression!. But cognitive behavioral therapy (CPT) is well known as an excellent option for mild to moderate anxiety or depression - your friend should check it out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Psychiatrist prescribe medication, therapists do therapy!. You may need both, a lot of people do!. There is nothing wrong with taking medication if you need it!.!.!.the problem is abusing medication and you don't really sound as if that is your intent!. Also, keep in mind that just like in any profession some psychiatrists are good and some are bad!. You may have not found the right one for you yet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My psychiatrist prescribes my antidepressant and monitors me to see if the dosage or the drug is working!.
My counselor is who really helps!. I'm working on building a whole new life for myself thanks to her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
