How do I get over this?!


Question: How do I get over this!?
I have generalized anxiety disorder, I've been told there's nothing wrong w/ me physically I have meds I take for when my anxiety acts up, regardless of being cleared medically I just can't accept for some reason that there is something wrong w/ my heart!. B/c I'm always worried I think it's making my anxiety worse, and so my chest tightens up and I get muscle pains from being tense and I think it's due to some undiagnosed heart problem!. I have no risk factors for heart disease except that I don't exercise very much at all!. I'm doing better than I used to, but still when I start feeling this way there is always something nawing at the back of my head saying "what if it's your heart this time" How do I get over this and stop my obsessing, what should I tell myself to make it stop!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's part of your anxiety, stressing over and obsessing over little things!. You need to find some coping skills that will help you along with the medicine you are taking!. They go hand in hand!. The medicine is only part of the cure, you also have to find things that work for you to help you cope with everyday life!.
Try talking to a therapist or searching on line for tools that you can use in every day life to lower and control your anxiety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The good news is your heart is fine!. Anxiety has the ability to make you very ill!. Anxiety can cause you to feel and experience heart trouble!. I know it is a hard thing to control but I would suggest that you take a yoga class not for the exercise but for the breathing technique!. I also suggest you learn to meditate or have a tranquil place where you can sit and concentrate on your breathing and relax life is always good until you make it otherwise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Consider going to a cardiologist for a screening!. They have all the bells & whstles to make? clear diagnoses!. If nothing else tell them you need an initial screening (cardiac physical)The symptoms you describe sound like an anxiety disorder!. Stress can cause heart pain and much much more!. You may also get another opinion on the meds you're taking for anxiety!. You didn't say what you were on but, It may not be giving you what you need to keep you stable all the time!. This problem can be remedied with meds but, you have to be sure you get the right one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have already been checked out then you could try to console yourself when you feel your anxiety symptoms coming on!. Try to remain calm and keep telling yourself, no this is just my anxiety trying to make think something is wrong with my heart, keep telling yourself this over and over!. Anxiety is very scary for most people and it can feel like a heart problem, so no wonder you think this!. You will most defiantly make your anxiety worse if you keep this up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First thing to do is go to your doctor and have him do a checkup of the heart!. EKG, Echo, Stress Test, Holter monitor etc!.!.!. This way you can rule everything out!. It is the best way!. I concur with the other 'Answerer', I think you could go to your doc!. and ask specifically for an EKG!. They'll stick little electrode things on you (no pain whatsoever) and these will pick up your heart beat for a time!. They can look at the read-out and see if there are any irregularities witih your heart this way!. It's really a simple procedure and many clinics do them nowadays!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
