Question: Is this mental illness or just a jerk!?
I know that he cannot be diagnosed by anyone here, but what is your opinion!?
My stb ex husband walked out on the kids and i to be with his gf!. The kids are toddlers, he rarely sees them, never calls them and when he is around he pays no attention to them!. But he does have a large tattoo on his arm with their names and their pics on his myspace!. its like he uses them to brag!.
He lies about everything!. Not only to me, he lies to anyone he needs to in order to get is way!. When i confront him about it he pretends like he never said what he said or the strangest excuse lately is that someone is out to get him!.
He has racked up 5000 dollars credit card debt in 3 months!. To buy what!? to eat out every day, "trick out his car" any random thing that you can think of!.
Has no close friends or family members!.
Worst of all he does not feel guilty about the things that he does, and if i told this to anyone he knows they would not believe me because he is so charming and "nice"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There might some mental illness issues involved, maybe he has some traits of Antisocial Personality Disorder!. Some of the things you mention sound like that!.
Some of the features of the disorder are repeating lying, conning others, impulsive behavior, lack of responsibility and superficial charm!. Sounds like those things fit this guy!. Other features are doing things that are illegal and constantly making some kind of excuse about it--"it wasn't me", "the police are just harrassing me", etc!. If he had a childhood history of disobedience to authority figures, fighting, hurting people or animals for fun, destruction of property, that would also fit Antisocial Personality Disorder!.
But that is for a psychiatrist or psychologist to decide!.
"Jerk" is pretty good label!. "Loser" is a pretty good one too!. You are better off without him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He has antisocial personality traits for sure!. They seem charming and nice, but it's all to get what they need!. Your ex fits the description of an antisocial personality type to a T!. They lie and feel no guilt!. Try to stay away from people like this, in my opinion they are extremely dangerous!. Maybe it's best he doesn't see the kids!. Personality disorders are just extreme forms of normal personality traits!. He could have shades of antisocial personality disorder or a couple others!. Whether these traits are actual disorders or in the realm of jerkness is hard to say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

he's being a jerk!. he is the center of his universe and he uses you and the kids as a way of being king of his domain!. he needs to grow up and realize that his wants and needs come second now that he's a father!. what good is it to get things if you have to lie to get them!. he's also using his kids and material stuff to try to impress people!. Im willing to bet he has very low self esteem and doesnt think theres anything good about himself for people to like him so he uses stuff to look important!. you cant force him to be a father!. you need to just look at him as a sperm donor and move on!. dont deny him access to his kids but dont force him to see them either!. dont put him down in front of the kids either!. you dont want your kids to come back years later and blame you for not having a good dad!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
I believe from your description that he is Manic depressive, and/or Bi-Polar!. If he refuses to go to a Psychiatrist for treatment, there is nothing you can do, but to try and keep his kids in his life, so that they at least have some kind of father figure!. But, if he is violent and/or you see him acting in this way with his kids around, get them out of his life and yours!. Or your kids will end up the same as him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

basically in simpler terms it means he is a self centered a**hole
naricissts can be quite charming in getting their own way
naricissts never feel guilty because they are so self absorbed that it truely never occurs to them that someone could be hurt by what they do
their mind is incapable of truely processing other peoples feelings
