I have listened to an audio presentation and read a book by Dr!. Claire Weekes!. Her approach to "nervous illness" has really opened my eyes to a lot of my own weird feelings and anxieties!.

http://www!.amazon!.com/Hope-Help-Your-Ner!.!.!.

http://www!.amazon!.com/Pass-Through-Panic!.!.!.

I highly recommend the audio presentation because her tone of voice is very reassuring to people suffering from anxiety!. The audio presentation can also be downloaded from iTunes (just search for her name)!.

Her books and radio broadcasts were made over 35 years ago, yet they are still as relevent today as they were in the 1970's!. Why!? Because she shows you that the majority of people who suffer from anxiety and seek phyciatric help have no special problems or personality disorders!. They are ordinary people who have become frightened of the state they are in!. They have made the mistake of adding (what she calls) "second fear" to the first flashing fears that automatically come from sensitized nerves!. And it is this second fear that keeps your nerves sensitized and keeps the anxiety alive!.

I saw this in my own father!. He had become sensitized by mounting financial worries, and after a surgical procedure he came out of anesthesia very sensitized!. He then fought his anxiety for many years, only to lose that battle!. He finally got help from counseling and medication therapy!. He is a normal man, brought up in a good home!. He has no special personality problems and is not neurotic!. Yet, his nerves tricked him into anxiety for 4 years!.

Dr!. Weekes proposes a simple method of acceptance!. This is not to be confused with "giving up" or accepting a lony life!. Not at all!. She is asking you to accept the strange thoughts and the wierd bodily symptoms that seem to come automatically, realizing that these are merely thoughts and reactions to your sympathetic nervous system!. They come from overly-sensitized nerves, and nothing more!. They are not a result of some deep-seated personality problem!. If you realize this and do not add the second fear, the first fear will die down and your nerves can begin the process of healing themselves!.

She goes into details about how sensitized nerves can lead to feelings of personality disintegration, loss of confidence, and agoraphobia!. She gives a simple explanation, so that you can understand that there is no mystery with these sensations!. She even has a special chapter on agoraphobia!.

You cannot fight nervous illness!. Because the way that a nervously ill person fights only adds more tension!. Only acceptance and letting time pass will unwind this condition!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only way you can overcome these fears is to face them and challenge yourself, it won't be easy, but you have to do it!. The longer you limit yourself the harder it will be to get out there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
