Answers:
Most certainly if you are only 16 years only your parents should be aware that you were diagnosed with depression!. They should be involved in your treatment plan to see a counselor and/or take medication!.

As far as telling people besides your teachers, I would take that very slow because this is a personal matter!. There is nothing to be ashamed of but you don't know who you can trust with this information right now!.

Your parents can help you decided if your teachers need to be informed!.You have to be careful with information given to teachers!. They are just as human as your friends and can accidentally mention your situation in front of someone who then repeats it etc!. etc!. and it is no longer confidential!.

Down the line, you will want to tell your closest friends - only your closest friends - not someone who things your personal medical matter is lunch conversation for the whole school!. Your close friends will give you support!.

I hope you feel well soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your teachers, parents, and friends are not supportive enough to understand that your actions and emotions might be under the influence of something you are actively treating, then they are bad teachers/parents/friends!.

As long as you tell them the truth so they can understand that you are working hard to fix it, it is a great thing!. In fact, most people WILL support you and let you know that you're doing the right things!.

However, if you are telling them to get pity or extra sympathy and you're NOT really trying to get rid of the depression, you may be seen as a "drama queen" or manipulative more than someone who is truly trying to beat a disorder!.

It truly depends on the intentions and motivations of the person who is depressed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be talking to a counselor about your depression!. And he/she will help you decide when and if you are ready to tell others about your disease!. Its not something you should be ashamed of, but it is your personal medical issue, and you dont have to share that with anyone!.

If you dont have a counselor, you should at least speak with your doctor about how to get one!. If you need more help, i'd start with any adult whom you can trust!. Your parents or a teacher would be a great start!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey 17 year old boy with depression and n anti's, definately tell your teaches, they will be super understanding and if you ever have a really bad time period they will understand!. Tell your parents they have a right to know!. Frinds is fairly iffy, i only tell my really good friends or if i like freak out on someone on a bad day, and i apologize and tell them why!. Depression sucks but if someone knows about it they can help you deal with it!. And trust me, your parents are definately a crutch that you will need on bad days just dont tell friends that think they know what your going through because they just failed a test, just dont tell your friends that always need attention!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Parents should know already if the condition is diagnosed and being treated with anti-depressants!.

I would only tell very close friends, acquaintances may not take it the right way and it may be worse if they know!.

Teachers I would actually leave out!. Schools are crazy these days and if they know you're depressed, they'll be on the watch and there may be a situation where something innocent you say gets taken out of hand!. You don't need that!.

Unless of course you think the school can do something to help, like offer less courses etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it is a GREAT idea to feel supported and understood by the people who are close to you!. There is no shame in depression!. It is something that the majority of people go through at some point in their lives!. Some people just go through it more often than others!.

Do talk to the people that you trust and love!. They care about you and want you to recover as quickly as you can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. The more people you talk to about it, the more it helps!. Teachers and Parents need to know especially so they can help!. As far as friends go, make sure they are close friends you are 100% certain you can trust!. If you even suspect they might make a joke out of it or tell the school bullies about it so they can torment the girl about it, then don't tell those kids!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes it is, but dont expect them to help because their help only is temporary!. But expressing your feelings to someone can make you realise that you were depressed, in that way, realisation can bring you conciousness for your life to be enjoyed by you and only just for you no matter what!.
