Answers:
Hey!. It will be ok!. Usually you have to fill out some paperwork!. Some psychiatrists ask more questions on the paperwork than others!. But they usually ask about your symptoms and other medical problems!. Sometimes they ask about your family and your education and your childhood!.

Then they will talk about the paperwork with you!. The paperwork is just for brief information and then they talk with you to get more in-depth information!.

If you get nervous, you can say "I would prefer not to talk about that right now!." They should respect that!.

The first appointment usually last 1 hour to 1!.5 hours and they ask questions and you answer!. Then they might prescribe medicine and make another appointment with you in 2-3 weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Looney answered this pretty good!. When you first go in for your appt!. they usually ask you get there early (15-30 minutes early) so you can fill out paper work which yes includes medical history, psychiatric/mental history as well as drug use history!.
When going in to see/talk to the therapist they will start by asking you various questions and reviewing the paperwork!. Now each therapist is different!.!.!.some will ask you questions through out the session some will only ask you a few and let you do most of the talking while others will ask a question then they do most of the talking during the session (I am currently dealing with this type now lol it's been interesting!) The thing to remember is if you do not feel comfortable to speak up and tell them also you can always change therapists, you do have that right! Also remember to not hide anything from them as the only way they can truely help is by knowing how you feel and by you talking truthfully openly!.!.!.Good luck to you and remember everyone deals with depression and or anxiety at some point throughout their lives!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I work in mental health!. They will ask you background questions about your symptoms and if these run in your family!. Yes, you will most likely fill out forms or they will ask you the questions and they will fill in your answers!. They will do a general assessment!. Usually a first appointment is about one hour long!. Make sure you ask questions if they use terms you do not understand!. Later on you can look up information on the Internet!. But don't believe everything you read!. Make sure it comes from a credible source!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

they'll ask you about your symptoms, how long you've had them!. have there been any problems in you life that may of caused it like being molested, abused etc!. Its very simple, and then they may prescribe a medication to help you, dont worry you'll be fine and be truthfulWww@Answer-Health@Com

Probably both!. The first appointment is really what you'd expect!. A bit of paperwork and questions about how you've been feeling and the symptoms you've had lately!.

Don't worry about it too much!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
