Question: Can your doctor have you involuntarily commited for self harm!?
Hi Im 16 and I have depression and I self harm!.!.!.Im going to the doctor tomorrow!.!.!.can he get me involuntarily commited for this!? I live in Ireland btw if that makes any difference!.!.!.
Please help!.!.im almost not going to go coz im so scared!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No your doctor cannot have you committed, he may strongly suggest that you have treatment for your own benefit, but only if you agree!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can't get commited forever for being suicidal!. What could happen is he could put you in a mental hospital, which is NEVER permanent!. I used to be suicidal, and I was only in there for 4 days! Trust me!.!.it will be okay!. Don't worry!. Your life will not be spent locked up in an insane ward!Www@Answer-Health@Com
