Mood swings!. He will be really happy and nice and then something in life will seem a little stressful to him and he's going to go off his rocker!. Either with anger, or sadness, drugs, alcohol, whatever!. He will go through depression and act like he wants life over!. He will contemplate suicide!. The worst part of it all, is when he tries to test how much you really care!. Its like, when they know they have bipolar, it kind of gives them an excuse to mess up so they take full advantage!.
Sorry to tell you this!. But its very hard to deal with!. You better be sure you REALLY care about this guy, other wise get out!. I know its hard to hear, but if you have never had experience with a person that has bipolar, all its going to do is bring you down!. You will stay with him for longer and longer thinking things will get better but they won't!. He may even go a couple years seeming perfectly fine, when really they are just waiting to snap!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do your best not to blame yourself for his mood changes (unless you did something bad) and don't try to change them!.!.!.that's my toughest lesson with my wife!.!.!.I keep trying to make her happy when she's on a down swing and it irritates her!.

The symptoms shouldn't get worse but remember that many bi-polar sufferers will get into a high and think they're doing just great so they'll stop taking their meds!. Be aware of this and keep an eye on things if it looks like he might be cycling harder or more frequently than you're used to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Managed well he should function normally, he might have some mild mood swings, and just keep in mind that if he seems upset or agitated, sometimes he can't help it, just be supportive!. Bipolar is not degenerative, so he shouldn't get worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he takes medicine, he should be okay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
