How to make me go to sleep without starting thinking about spooky things ?!

Question: How to make me go to sleep without starting thinking about spooky things !?
Well I know this sounds stupid but a lot of the stuff that does not scare me by day starts to scare me at night, for example I start thinking that someone or something supernatural is gonna come at night and kill me, and I try to push those thoughts away but actually some more start coming in, like maybe a burglar will come in and murder me, or someone may kidnap me or something supernatural like a ghost or a spirit or a demon will come in!. So that not only scares me but wakes me up in the middle of the night and won't let me go back to bed!. Any help!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Whatever it is that you are watching on tv or renting on dvd give it a rest!. Cut out the news for a while!. Pray before you go to sleep and ask the Lord to help you rid yourself of these thoughts and try putting on some smooth jazz radio station kinda of low and let it put you to sleep!. Think of the things that make you feel safe!. Being at home with mom and dad, the bright daylight that keeps your fears away!. Maybe even consider a dog!. Hope this works for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The obvious - don't watch scary or paranormal programs!. I love paranormal programs, but then I have so much trouble going to sleep!. I finally decided my sleep was more important!. :)

After that, you actually have to practice changing your thoughts to other things!.!.!.eventually it will be like flipping a switch!. So think of (or fantasize) something good - think of someone you like, or some adventure you've always wanted to do, or try to relive something you did that made you feel really great and empowered!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that happens to me alot, i feel for you!. what i usually do -and this works almost 99% of the time- get up!. go into your kitchen trun on a light drink a glass of water!. pretend you didnt think any of those things!. then think of something REALLY REALLY AWESOME!. something fun!. something cool!. then once you start thinking about that you'll forget the bad things!. then go back upstairs and go to sleep :)!.

hope this helps you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe it would help you to have a pillow to hug or something at night!. I've been afraid of the dark since I was a little kid!. I always feel like something is watching me!.!.!.!.

I'm not afraid to admit I hugged a pillow until I was about 20, when I met my boyfriend!.

Also, I would tell myself to stop being illogical and that there was no way anything bad was going to get me with my angels around!.!.!.!.it sounds stupid but my brain was too tired to argue half the time!.

Try the pillow thing!. Pretend it has teeth for the evil people Lol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ill tell u this, leaving my TV on at night helps a ton!! i hate the dark because u never know whats in it!.!.!.i dont kno i have problems with this too!. i always have a TV on!.!.!.so that way there is a lil bit of light in the room and noise, but if i wake up then i can just get lost into the TV again and hopefully take my mind off of whatever was scaring me!. best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm so sorry I have this also but i get night terrors as well, I have a t!.v!. or the radio going at all times and it keeps my mind distracted and from thinking to much about the day and the what ifs!. I also take xanax if it get really bad and it helps alot!.!.!.!.!. Best of wishes!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you Christian!? When that happens to me I just pray to God to ease my fears, then I remember that He is on my side, and no matter what may try and get me, in any way, He is waayyyy bigger than that!. If you don't know God, try calling out to Him!.!.!.He'll listen!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Whenever I get spooked like that in the middle of the night, I put on music!. I turn the music low enough to allow me to sleep, but loud enough to block out any random creaks that might further startle me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nothing supernatural will come to get you unless someone has died in your house, and there's a very low chance of the other things, so long as there's a lock on your front and back doors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could make sure all the doors are locked and that you have sticks in your sliders!. There is no such thing as supernatural powers that will get you in the night!. When I was a child I was scared of werewolves, vampires and Frankenstein!. If you watch horror movies, stop watching them!. I watched a horror movie late at night just a couple years ago and I was scared to death about things that don't even exist!. I sleep with a dim bulb on all night!. You could also call the crisis line when you're scared at night or call a friend or wake up your parents if you live with them!. You could also get a dog or a kitten to protect you!. You could also hang things like angels everywhere to ward off evil, or have something near you at night as a weapon against whatever you're scared of!. When I was a child and scared of vampires, I should have had garlic and a cross near-by but I didn't think of it back then!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Put your mind in a position where it wants to shut itself off, and sleep!. See insomnia treatments, in much more detail than can be included here, in section 3, at ezy build, below!. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, on pages 2, 11, 2!.c, or 2!.i, but they can take some time to learn, (progressive muscular relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day; an alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, and pages 2!.q, and 2!.o, saying to yourself: "Even though I currently have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself!." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping!. Some more; quick, and easy to learn, are at http://www!.umm!.edu/sleep/relax_tech!.htm I have not yet evaluated them, but they seem to be worthwhile trying, and I like to provide options!.

Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime!. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your subconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques!. I suggest that you try using the EMDR variant, below, prior to the mindfulness, or the progressive muscular relaxation, but after the EFT, if that method is chosen!. Experiment, to find which combination works best!.

(The following is a variant of EMDR therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, insomnia, and anxiety: it is easily learned, quick to use, yet can be very effective!. It is easy to be dismissive of such a seemingly unusual technique, but give it a good tryout, for at least a few weeks, to see if it is effective in your case)!.

Prior to using either of the methods in the above paragraph, first sit comfortably, and take a deep breath!. Then, without moving your head, move your eyes from the left, to the right, and back again, taking around a second to do so (say: "a thousand and one": this takes approximately a second)!.

Repeat this procedure (without the words, although you can count, subvocally, if you like) 20 times: "A thousand and one; a thousand and two!.!.!. " and so on, to a thousand and twenty!. Then close your eyes and relax!. Become aware of any tension or discomfort you feel!.

Then open your eyes, and take another deep breath, and repeat step one, closing your eyes, and relaxing afterwards, in the same manner!. Then, repeat the procedure one last time!. Some people may find that this is all they need do!. With experience, you may find that you can practise this in public, with your eyes closed, which greatly widens the window of opportunity for its use, and avoids attracting unwanted attention!. I have found that the 2 - 3 minutes spent using the EMDR markedly reduces distractions to the relaxation process, and is repaid many times over!.

I also use it prior to my chosen relaxation technique, after lights out, at night!. For more about Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing therapy, showing recommendations by those who have used it, including a professional psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience in that field, see sections 33 - 34, at ezy-build!.

Usually, I have a cup of chamomile herbal tea, an hour before bedtime, and employ the above techniques!. Others may prefer Sleepytime, by Celestial Seasonings, or valerian root, from supermarket tea, or health food aisles!. http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris

Get yourself a kid's ray gun: the type that lights up, as big, and loud, and bright as possible!. Check that it is working OK, one night, in the dark, and sleep with it handy: this will reassure your subconscious mind!. You could also sleep with a personal alarm ( < $10 ) and a large, heavy flashlight, and/or have a nightlight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
