I read a little about "dual diagnosis" yesterday and it made me rememb!

Question: I read a little about "dual diagnosis" yesterday and it made me remember!?
before i went into detox i remember the dr!. talking about 'he might be a dual diagnosis" which never was followed up on - meanwhile, 5 years later - i am not happy - i can not cope in public or relate to people at all - i'm an INTJ which would make me not like being around people much I guess - but what i'm going through does not feel healthy
but then this yesterday thing sparked memory about what the dr!. said and then it kindof confirmed something i'd been thinking for a while anyway
ok great i'm sober - but you know, nothing has changed- other than that i no longer am able to cope, even though my prior mechanism was killing me
but now i'm like, sofuckingwhat - this is worthless b!.s!. anyway
my life has been totally wasted
and you know, at times i let myself think that "it wasn't so bad when i was drinking" and I know that isn't right but I still feel just as bad and broken as when i was drunk - but just differently
i must have a social anxiety disorder
never really dated either properWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
being INTJ isn't crucial to your situation, its just a measure of how you percieve and live in this world!.
you seriously need to see a physician and psychiatrist in order to deal with the missed/dropped dual diagnosis asap!.
drinking/using is not coping, its hiding! you want change!? take direction-work through the challenges of life, apply the tools of recovery instead of being on a dry drunk!. remember that you are responsible for change in your own life now-so if nothing changes, its on you,!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Man you need to get to an AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meeting and fast!. Look up the number in your phone book!. Start there and see how far you get!. I think that with the tools you will learn about there the other problems will become much more manageable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is best to get into AA if you are not here already!. Then get a sponsor!. It is important to remain sober!. Than you can get an assessment through your doctor or a mental health professional and get treatment!. But being sober and getting treatment go togetherWww@Answer-Health@Com

Might reconsider going to AA and taking risks with meeting and trusting people!. I know it will be difficult, but this is your life we are talking about!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When my brother finally got off drugs and didn't have a relapse, he told me "sobriety is terrible!." He had all the same worries and insecurities he had before he started using!. He felt empty, had no direction!. He said he didn't even know what his identity was!. It was a very sad thing, because of course we all thought that if he could quit heroin he would be fine!.

That was seven years ago!. Now he says it was as if he had to learn to be himself, starting from scratch!. He went to therapy, and it turned out he had anxiety and depression so he needed to find the right medication for that!. Things did get better little by little!. Eventually the improvemnt started to snowball because success leads to success, but at first it was very slow and incremental!.

People drink and use drugs to try to cope with some kind of inner pain or emptiness!. There's no standard way to deal with it sober!.!.!. you have to find your own way!. You can do it!.

It is very normal though, to be thinking about the past as a waste!. And that can bring you down a lot!. And of course it's very daunting, the idea that you have to make a better life and you have no idea how!.

Try to do a few sessions of therapy!. Also force yourself do try doing some things that might be even a little enjoyable, even if you never had a prior interest!. My brother tried cooking, movies, art!.!.!. he ended up finding out he liked working with dogs, even though nobody in our family ever cared about pets at all!. The upturn will probably come form some totally unexpected place!. After all, the stuff you already have tried ddin't work!.!.!. so you have to look to the unknown!.

I really wish you well!. I know how hard it is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
