Hmm, well im a medic and they asked to look at my medical records when i applied for the job, they also asked if i had had any mental health problems in the past!. I could have refused to let them see my medical records, but i doubt that i would have gotten the job if i had!. Now if i had of had a mental health problem in the past, and i could have proved that they had refused to employ meon that basis then i may have had a case under the disability discrimination act, if their causes for concern were unfounded, i!.e!. i hadn't had a problem in many years, and i had managed to hold down similar jobs since then!.
It's a difficult one!. Having a mental health problem to some people is as bad as having a criminal record, they don't understand it or trust you!. I would imagine that there's only a limited amount of job roles who would be interested in a persons medical records though!. The advice i would give to her is to try not to worry about this at this stage - concentrate on getting better!. I think her parents have only said it to shock her into not doing it anymore - which i imagine wouldn't work as it's probably stressing her out more!. All the best xWww@Answer-Health@Com

records are confidential at least here in the USA and this should not cause her issues getting a job!.

what can cause job issues is emotiomal disturbances that she hasnt gotten past in therapy but if she has done that and the fact that she stoped self harm is goodWww@Answer-Health@Com

i dont think so!.
I used to be a self harmer myself and the only people that know are the people that i've told!. i didnt have any problems getting a job!.
I think perhaps your friends parents are trying to put her off from doing it again by telling her this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ive never known it to!. But then again it doesnt usually come up as an interview question when I interview!.!.!.!.

Her records, and I assume you mean medical, an employer can't read without her permision, and there would be no reason for them to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They cannot see her medical records! Those are confidential in the UK!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Those files are confidential!. Employers don't have access to them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
