I had a counslor suggest this technique to me at a time when I was too pre occupied with things that HAD gone wrong and I was stressing about what COULD go wrong too!. It really worked for me and I still use it when I start to stress out!. It kind of centers your focus!.

Out loud or to yourself being stating things that you can see, feel, smell around you at that moment!. Such as "it is 11:30 in the morning!. It is warm outside, but the room that I am sitting in is cold!. I can hear children playing outside!. I am wearing a blue t shirt with gray slacks!. I can smell cookies baking down the hall!. The smell is making me a little hungry though it is not yet lunch time!." And so on!.

I found that this really diverted my attention from stressing over things that I had no control over and put it on real thing that I could see, touch, smell, etc in the present!. It may sound corny, but it works!.

I spent a long time focusing on what had happened in my past until a therapist finally got through to me that "you can change the present and the future, you can't change the past!." I realized that if I wanted to improve my life -- and I did want to do so -- I needed to work on the present and the future, not the past!. You learn from the past and look toward the future and work on the present!. But, concentrating on the past only hurts you, not others -- they got what they wanted before -- you are only wasting your life, not their lives, so you are hurting yourself all over again!.

Try to stay grounded in the present -- use your five senses to keep yourself in the present -- list what you see, hear, smell, touch and taste!. For example: right now I am touching the keys on the computer keyboard and watching the screen as I type this answer!. I feel the cool air coming in my living room window and I hear the television in the background!. I smell the rain in the air outside and I tasted the cool water in my water bottle!. All of that is in the present!.

This is just a suggestion!.!.!.!.hope it helps some!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Simple!. People who are stuck in the past have no future!.
People who obsess about the future, miss their present!.
People who live in the present, can look back and learn from the past, and use it as a reference for the future!. ; )

Get over the past!. It's not helping you if you aren't learning from it!. You're just re-living it!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're hurt by the past and possibly nursing grudges against a person or people who did you wrong!. They don't care!. You're the only one who gets hurt when you give your power away to some jerk(s) from your past!. It's almost like you're on autopilot, kicking your own *** now, on their behalf!. They don't even have to bother!. So what to do!? Find the most minimal things you need for closure on the past and do them!. Accept the past at a minimum and optimally find freedom in FORGIVENESS!. If your mind "goes there" steer it to any other thought!. Let it go!. Your happiness is at stake here!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have already lived the past and survived it!.!.!.!. with that said know that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!.

The past is the past for a reason!. If you can't cope with the past I suggest you seek from help from a professional!.

Hope you can work it out :)
