Concerta for children help??!
Question: Concerta for children help!?!?
Does concerta have drug's like cocaine in it!? Does it make you high like you been doing drug's from the street or what!. I have a 11 year old that takes 54mg and 18mg and a 8 year old that takes 36mg and a 5 year old that take's 18mg and my 4 year old take's 18mg and I want to know if this stuff is like drug's from the street or what!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It doesn't have drugs like cocaine and it doesn't make them high!.
In people with ADHD, the stimulant meds stimulate the part of the brain that helps them filter and sort out incoming stimuli so that they can better control their reactions and aren't always running around wild with a "fight or flight" impulse, or so they don't get hyperfocused on one set of stimuli to the exclusion of all others!.
Do your kids seem more focused and in control of their own behavior while they're on the meds!? Then the meds are working properly and are helping them!. If they seem more hyper, or if they seem like they're in a constant state of daze or daydream, then you need to talk to the doctor again, because that's a sign that either the med or the dosage is not right for that particular child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Concerta is Ritalin base!. My seven year-old daughter started out on Concerta over a year ago!. She lost six pounds in four months!. She was not eating because all the ADHD stimulants suppress their appetites!. Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin XR, and VyVanse are all Ritalin base!. She had side affects with all the stimulants!. She was having heart palpitations/tachycardia!. She is not taking anything right now!. They did try nonstimulants like Strattera and Clonidine but she had the tachycardia!. Clonidine made her very lethargic which I did not want for her!.
