When I'm stressed/angry at someone else, why do I want to hurt ME?!

Question: When I'm stressed/angry at someone else, why do I want to hurt ME!?
Let's say I just had a terrible week at work (nothing that I did or caused; just a really bad stressful week!.) Instead of going home and saying "At least this week is over and I'm at home now!", I instead feel like hurting myself!. If someone else ticks me off or does something that makes me upset, I always feel like hurting MYSELF!. I imagine stabbing a knife into my leg repeatedly, or something like that!. I never do, though! The urge to scratch myself with my nails (or something similarly not-too-harmful) is really strong, though I don't do it!.

So if I'm upset over something that upsets me yet wasn't my own doing, why do I want to hurt MYSELF!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You probably have these vivid images because you once did cut yourself!. These are old images playing in your head again because you are feeling stress!. Your brain remembers that cutting yourself was how you once managed stress!.
It is so good to know you have not cut yourself for six years!.
It might help to get this anger out of you by talking about it, writing down your thoughts, drawing your feelings or whatever else might help release this inner anger!. This might have become a habit for you to think about hurting yourself instead of someone else!. Get angry at the person that has upset you!.
We can be our own worst enemy!. Best Wishes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You want to hurt yourself because you are mad, but you can't change other people and make them relize, but you have control over yourself!. I went through the same thing!. The only thing that helped me was going to a hospital!. I never wanted to do that, and you probably don't!. But in the end it was way worth it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to talk with a doctor about this what you have is called borderline syndrome!. Its not good you have such thoughts because you easily get into the next level and try it!. When you hurt yourself its like you want to know that there exist some more pain as what you have in you!. Thats not goodWww@Answer-Health@Com

i use to cut myself!. this is because sometimes u just feel like its always u that gets all this trouble and u feel like u dont deserve to live!. tis happend to me to!. dont tho there is better ways to get angery outWww@Answer-Health@Com

It's because you hate your father!. I don't know what he did to you to make you hurt yourself!. You should confront him and tell him why you hate him so much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because you never recovered from your self-harm!. I'm sorry to say that even though you feel like you will ever do it again, you definately will cut again if you do not get the help you need!. Self-injury is highly addicting if you do not get treatment for it than no matter how long it has been you are just waiting to do it again!. You are amazing for the fact that you havn't cut in so long but if you do not see a professional about this you are putting yourself at risk for a relapse!. So good luck in getting the help you need!!
