Is my girlfriend becoming ill is she simply spiritual?!

Question: Is my girlfriend becoming ill is she simply spiritual!?
I have been with my current girlfriend for 5 years now and she is a lovely, intelligent girl who I adore!. She is an artist and has always been interested some fairly odd things but recently she has become more absorbed in them!. She reads endless books on things like science, quantum physics, philiosophy, psychology, astrology, Eastern spirituality, tarot etc!. She meditiates and seems to be having somewhat "mystical experiances" the other day she said that she felt as though something inside her was breaking down inside her and that although it scared her because her rational self is telling her she could go mad she knows that if she is brave and lets it happen it will be very good for her and that it just feels scary!. She is able to function well in day to day life pay the bills and engage in more mundane things but what she says worries me!. It all sounds a bit strange and I fear for her mental health when she talks like this!.
What do you think should she see a doctor!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Spiritual emergency and mental health energency are very similar!.

Your gf sounds like she knows what she is doing - As a person centred therapist we have a phrase - trust the process!- Keep right on loving and getting through is better than diverting round!.
James Joyce the writer asked Carl Jung what the difference was between him and his daughter who was labelled schizophrenic - when they both had exactly the same symptoms - he replied - you are swimming and she is drowning!.

standing alongisde adn being supportive when it is soemone you love goign through a big experience is difficult - trust your own process too!.

i don't think a doctor would know about what is goign on with her they tend to be reductionist and are looking at physical problems not this kind of spritual transcending journey -

I would say that your gf is doing some thing quite unique - give her lots of time and encouragement - she is probably doing the work for both of you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like she may need to talk to someone!.!.the fact she feels the need to read all these books seems she is looking for something you can't provide at this moment,,,she is taking on some hard stuff there, may be she needs to cut back and just stick to one subject!.!.!.her mind become very muddled and it is the view of the author she taking on not her ownWww@Answer-Health@Com

She may be having a psychotic break, or on the verge of a spiritual breakthrough!. But could be also emergence of bipolar disorder!.

The difference between a psychotic break and a spiritual breakthrough is whether you react to the experience in a way that damages your life, or uplifts it!. Talk to her and make sure she stays grounded!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yr local GP surgery should have a contact person 4 u 2 go & get advice!. if yr girlfriend isn't registered with a gp surgery, then there'll b a walk in centre or a citizens advice point of contact u can access!. Either way, in my opinion, yr partner needs professional help!. Good luck 2 both of u!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe some counselling, if she agreed to it!. It sounds like she's searching for something, or has something heavy to deal with, and it would probably help to talk to someone independent and objective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah take her to a dr!. Let him load her up with drugs till she loses all she's gained thru her studies!. If the treatment is successful, she'll stop all this nonsense; join "The First Church of the Slippery Slope" and sell Rapture Hats!. Just think, she'll be normal, "Say Hallelujah"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your girl friend needs to get away from the astrology, tarot and "new age" stuff now! That stuff will really mess with your mind!. I don't know if she needs a doctor or anything!. She just needs to stop letting herself be influnced by that weird stuff!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don't worry to much about it i was the same for years but then grew out of it,remember this a really good time for you to grow and change together/evaluate your relationship so see this as an opportunity!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
