Question: I have a question for people who recovered from an eating disorder!.!.!.!?
Almost everyone says that eating disorders have to do with emotional stuff!. I cannot think of one reason I do it except to lose weight!. I was just wondering why you had an eating disorder!. ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Eating disorders are usually a coping skill to deal with underlying issues!. However, for many people with an eating disorder, they are in denial about the underlying issues and often cite the reason for the disorder as simply wanting to lose weight!. To give a similar example, this would be like an alcoholic saying they drank alcohol simply because they like alcohol!. USUALLY this is not the case!.

However, that doesn't mean that there are NO alcoholics out there that are simply addicted to alcohol for no other reason other than the alcohol!. And this is the same for people with ED!.!.!. I'm sure there are people who simply became addicted to the techniques used to lose weight for the sake of losing weight!.

I would also suggest that because society places such a HUGE emphasis on being thin, that it can no longer be put solely on the individual as having a problem but rather their response to the culture itself!. So, in other words, perhaps you don't have any reason for the ED other than wanting to be thin!.!.!. which is a problem created by the society you live in!.

In my experience with my own ED, it was a combination of family issues and society issues (and probably genetic reasons, as well) that made it so easy to adopt the ED patterns!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if u go to counseling, they will help u determine Why ur unhappy with ur lose weight!.!.!. which will identify any emotional issues u have!. specifically if ur weight is not an issue in average social settings (meaning ur not obese)!.!.!. then we should determine why u see something that others dont, and why u want to take such extreme measures to correct it!. please go to a doctor!.!.!. eating disorders are addictions that only get worse with time, as with drug abuse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
