I'm sorry to hear about all the suffering you've been through!. As far as the question about whether you were born with an eating disorder, I think probably not - it's probably a combination of physical factors and stresses in your life that trigger certain feelings and behaviors!. I just read about a study that said it isn't entirely due to environment and culture, and that there could be natural, physical factors that contribute to it!. Specifically, the study said that in anorexics, the pleasure that other people experience from food doesn't work the same way!. You probably know all the short-term symptoms, like how it can damage your appearance (hair, skin, teeth, etc!.), energy level, and mood!. If you don't get treatment for your condition, you could eventually have problems with your metabolism, so that ultimately it's even harder to manage your weight and energy!. Eventually, you can also do serious damage to your organs, through malnutrition and just throwing your body chemistry out of whack!. Some people die from eating disorders, anorexia more often than bulimia!. These are serious diseases, and they can also affect your relationships, interfere with school and work, and affect your ability to cope with other stresses in your life!. But as you said, you already know all that stuff!.

Mainly I just want you to know that you can recover and find other ways to cope with stress and have a sense of control in your life, and you'll feel a lot better about yourself if you do!. You're still young enough and most likely resilient enough to recover and get yourself in shape, so that when the time comes to go to college and/or live on your own, you'll be physically and mentally strong enough to do whatever you want!.

I had some friends with really serious eating disorders in high school and college, including a couple who had to go to the hospital and seriously almost died, but they are all much better now and leading healthy, successful lives!. A few of them are still a little weird about food now and then when they are under stress, but for the most part they have found less dangerous ways to deal with food and their feelings!. The cool thing about people who have had serious eating disorders is that in a weird sense they do have incredible self-control and determination, so if they can channel that into recovering from their disorder rather than perpetuating it, they can go on to use that strength in more positive ways and pretty much do anything!. It sounds like you have been through a lot, but don't lose hope, because things really can get better, and the sooner you start taking care of your health, the sooner you can get on the right track to living the kind of life you want!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm surprised you haven't witness these affects yourself from being in and out of hospital and battling this disorder from quit some time!.!.!.

1!. I developed osteoporosis and forever aching joint pains
2!. No, it's a way people deal with stress and difficulty in life!. It'll return if you live an unbalance lifestyle!.
3!. Nope
4!. A lot of people die between 2-5 years of having on going eating disordersWww@Answer-Health@Com

you might not be able to have any!. you should get help because it could really take over your life and your daily activites!. i was overwieght and now i am regretting it!.

you really need to get hep and i am here to support you !.!.as a frriend or a shoulder to lean!.!.!.good luck hun and god bless you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have not disorderWww@Answer-Health@Com

You can get rid of it!. I am now 100% comfortable with food and my weight!. I did this by taking paxil and eating and purposely gaining to a healthy weight- when you're not starved and crazy it's easy to eat normally!. p!.s!. I'm 16 now and my ED started when I was around 13!.

I don't think you were born with this at all!. No way!. I just think it's become such a way of life that you don't want to let go!. I've been there but I came to realize that boobs, curves, body warmth, an immune system and happiness surpass thinness on my list of wants!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey
you answered on my eating disorder question and so i'm going to answer yours
i've had an eating disorder for at least 4 yrs as well!.
1!. long term effects include brittle bones/early onset of osteoporosis, failing organs, nerve deterioration, fertility problems!.!.!.
2!. i think it'll always be tehre in some way!. i read books about people who claim they've fully recovered from an ED!. i believe that a part of being human is critisising and focussing on improving yourself and correcting your faults!.
3!. i don't think you can be born with an eating disorder, but your genes could make you more predisposed to get one later in life!.
4!. i don't have any stories but i hope you find recovery one day, don't give up on yourself :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
