Doctors using smell to detect illness....?!

Question: Doctors using smell to detect illness!.!.!.!.!?
I was recently reading a book that including a passage on smells, pharamones, and stuff like that!. It mentioned that Doctors in America are trained to diagnose diseases, including schizophrenia, with smell!.

This is a question to any doctors, and anybody that knows by fact, how!?!? Smelling if a person is unkempt or somthing!?
I know that physical illness can be smelled on a person's breath, if one of their organs are failing, but I mean as far as mentally!.

Thanks,

Answers:
Mental illness is obviously a disease in the brain, which of course controls every function of the body!. What the doctors are smelling for is a change in natural body odor that might indicate the function of the brain is not working correctly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not a doctor or anything, but common sense kinda kicks in here, how can you smell a MENTAL illness like schizophrenia!? You just can't!. Perhaps something like a colon problem there might be some smelling procedure (highly unlikely, if I was in hospital and my doctor came in and diagnosed me by smell alone, I'd suspect he is doing some serious drugs and go to a hospital in a different country)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have NEVER heard of diagnosing mental disease by smell!.
but other diseases - yes, i have heard of that!.

but i did recently read about using dogs to detect and confirm cancer- and the docs think that is by smell!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have never read this about mental illness, but I have read that dogs are trained to sniff out early stage cancer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
