I started fluoxetine today, question...?!

Question: I started fluoxetine today, question!.!.!.!?
I started taking fluoxetine (Prozac) today, and have been tired all day long, I just got a little sick to my stomach!. Is this actually from the drug or is it more likely to be a placebo effect!? I didn't know if these symptoms happen on the first day or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They can happen, especially in the first days!. The nausea will usually lessen after a week or so!. A certain percentage of people (Approx 5%) experience persistent drowsiness with fluoxetine!. You may be one of these!. If the fatigue continues, you may want to take it in the evening, but the vast majority of people find that it increases their energy levels!. So give it a few weeks first!. It takes a long time to get to therapeutic levels and the effects can be a bit unpredictable during that time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is not unusual to feel tired when you initially take an anti-depressant!. Sometimes you might feel nauseous!. The side effects will vary from person to person!. Personally, I had no side effects after switching from effexor to prozac!. Effexor made me very tired but once I went on prozac I had more energy and no side effects!. This will also depend on the dosage you are on!. I am taking 20mg but I'm sure that at higher dosages there would be higher incidences of side effects!.

Good luck!. If you continue to experience side effects that bother you I would talk to your doctor!. Remember that it takes about 4 weeks on Prozac to see full effects!. If at that time your side effects still bother you ask your doctor if a switch in medicine is right for you!.

P!.S!. If you haven't checked it out you can buy a 30 day supply of Prozac generically at Walmart for 4 dollars!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nausea is a side effect with a lot of drugs!. Continue to take the med as prescribed and the side effect will go away in a few days!. The tiredness should go away also!. If it doens't, take it at night to help you sleep!. If the s/e's continue for more than a few days to a week, call your doctor!. The dose could be too strong for you or you can't tolerate it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah in the first couple of days or weeks it's normal to have affects like that!. It's just your body getting used to it!. If it persists, or gets really bad, see your dr!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
