Would my psychotherapist be wrong?!

Question: Would my psychotherapist be wrong!?
I am fifteen years old with psychiatrical history prior to this year!. I have recently been seeing a therapist because I have been having dismal mood swings about once a week and I have been hearing things about once a month!. My mom and my doctors have been trying to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist again, but it would be at least until November before I could see them!. So -because it would be a very long time to get a proper diagnosis- my therapist told me that she could try diagnosing me!. She thinks that I have an anxiety disorder and gave me a booklet on it!. Frankly, I have read through the pages, scrupulously, and I cannot see how "I am anxious and under the constant worry about job responsibilities, money, family, etc!." I have spent some time thinking about it and I cannot see that at all!.
The thing is, I don't think I have been telling her enough!. I believe I understated how I have been diagnosed with dysthymia at Coastal Harbor but left untreated because of my fatherWww@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, find a new therapist!. The symptoms you describe are NOT consistent with an anxiety disorder and you are very right to question it!. Second, 4 months to see a psychiatrist!. That's outrageous! Find another psychiatrist or call the local NAMI (National Association for the Mentally Ill) at nami!.org for a recommendation!. It should take only 2-3 weeks to get an appointment not months!. Also, find a competent therapist!. Any one who makes an off-the-cuff diagnosis and gives the patient a pamphlet is obviously untrained!. Besides you need help and a diagnosis is just a label!. Find a competent and licensed psychologist or social worker!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your psychotherapist may be well trained to diagnosis your issues but if you have questions or have not painted the whole, accurate picture of what you and thinking and feeling, that diagnosis may not be accurate!. You owe it to yourself to sit down with your psychotherapist and discuss your reactions to the booklet and why you do or do not think it applies to you, and share any other information which you think may help both of you to better understand and treat your problems so that you can get better!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't try to give you my guess of your diagnosis because you haven't told me enough about yourself!. Plus, it's unethical and I don't have my PhD!.!. To answer your question, of course she could be wrong!. She may not even be licensed or educated enough to diagnose youWww@Answer-Health@Com

I've seen 9 psychiatrists since I was 16, I'm 53 now, and all of them were wrong!. I have also seen 8 counselors who tried to convince me I had this, that and the other!. One of the counselors was so upsetting she acted like a cop, trying to bust me with paranoia!. It's not my fault she didn't believe me!. I just felt that if I kept on seeing her, I would probably consider suicide!. She was a really BAD counselor!. I walked out of there one day and wrote her a note and said , "You're not my bag"!. You have to be really careful about believing professionals!. You are the only person that knows you the best!. What do you think you have!? If you don't see what your counselor's saying, trust your instincts, you are probably right!. Nobody outside of you can really even see you that well!. So did your father get in the say of your stay at the hospital!? Is he an abusive person with power and control issues!? Does he think your being there says something about him!? It probably does!. Dysthymia is depression, right!? I heard that a lot of people diagnosed with that are bipolar!. But maybe you don't have any "conditions" and your abusive father is causing all your problems!. If he's mean and you have problems because of it, it's not your fault!. It's his fault!. Is it because of insurance that you have to wait until November!?!. It's seems a little negligent on your parents' part!. If they care about you, they can just pay cash for an appointment with a psychiatrist!. When you're a minor, you can really get jacked around!. I had a nightmarish experience with a psychiatrist, a counselor and my mother, and a psychiatric hospital when I was 16!. It messed me up for years!. The psychiatric profession doesn't take domestic violence seriously!. I finally found out 3 years ago that's what my problems are all about and always have been!. You can E-mail me if you want to talk some more!. Hang in there - you're a survivor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ofcourse she can be wrong, they're only human beings, just like you and me, and they're allowed mistakes too!. I mean my therapist said I was borderline and I need to stop the love/hate relationships I have with people which is soo wrong since I pretty much love everyone and I dont hate a single person in my life!. Never have!. I dislike a few people sure!. But hate seems way to mean and Im not like that at all!. So yes, they make mistakes, just tell her everything you know and how your feeling and she'll be able to help you once you know more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
