Anxieties..?!

Question: Anxieties!.!.!?
For some reason I always feel very nervous and axious around strangers or people that I don't know very well!. In social situations I get stressed, I sweat, feel nauseous, and my heart pounds!. I'm 17 years old and my anxieties got so bad that I actually dropped out of highschool and got my GED!. I'm smart and I love to learn, but I couldn't deal with being around so many people every day!. I know this sounds so pathetic, but for me it's very serious!. My parents want me to go to college so I can have good career when I'm older, and I think that's a good idea but the thought of going back to school makes me want to puke!. Whenever my parents have company over I always go to my room so I don't have to be around the other people!. When I'm around others I watch every little thing I do because I'm so afraid of doing something to embarass myself!. And for the next couple of days I analyze every little thing I did and agonize over anything that I did that could be considered embarassing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First let me say that you do not "sound pathetic" as you said!.
What you have is a legitimate condition know as "Social Phobia" or "Social Anxiety Disorder" or a handful of other names!.
There are several ways to handle this:
1!.) Do nothing!. This will solve nothing and your feelings will only get worse!.
2!.) Try to "tough it out" on your own!. This is very difficult and will probably lead to more serious problems!.
3!.) Get the help of a Mental Health Professional!. This is the best way to improve your situation!. What you are experiencing can be caused by any number of different reasons, both physical and emotional or a combination of both!.
Seek out a Psychiatrist who can help you learn to not only manage but overcome your condition!. A General Practioner may give you meds or advice, but they are not really qualified to handle these types of conditions!.
I know from personal experience how hard these feelings can be!. I have suffered from this kind of Social Phobia all my life!. I am 43 and didn't seek help for a very long time!. As a result, my life is not where it should be; and struggling for years on my own not only didn't get me better, it made me worse!. It lead to years of trying to "self-medicate" with alcohol and worse!.
What you are going through may make you feel like you are 'weak"!.!.!.nothing could be further from the truth! You have shown the strength to confront and ask about your problem, now recognize and use that strength to get better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have a similar issue, so I am attending college through distance learning- I am working on my bachelor's degree entirely online!. That may be a viable option for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take some nauseous cure and meet your fears head on at least to the extent that you need to!. In order to succeed!.

You should assume if you feel like this then everyone feels like this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm in the same boat!.

Perhaps you could do online college courses!? Wow, maybe even I should try that :-) Good luck to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi April,
I've had a few cases like yours in my practise!.

What I would first suggest is that you find a good osteopath and get your body straightened!. Very often, such chronic insecurity feelings occur because your internal information flows get skewed by imbalances in your spine and skull!.

If you send me an email to let me know what country you're in, I can send you a contact link for that country!.

Blessed be!.
