Question: I have a mental problem with songs, and I'm in serious need of help!?
I have a problem where I attach some type of bad memory to a song!. Say I see someone naked, getting hurt, something of that sort while I'm listening to a song I really like, something that's not that big of a deal!. Now whenever I listen to whatever song it was, that memory comes up, and it becomes a huge deal!. How can I stop myself from doing this!? I haven't been doing this for a long time!. Obviously, everyone has a memory when they listen to a song, but I always seem to attach a bad type of memory to a song, and sometimes it seems like I do it on purpose, which makes no sense!. So whenever I open iTunes, which is where I buy my music, I have to make sure there's nothing bad that I might see that may ruin the song for me!.!.!.forever! This problem gets very frustrating, especially with songs I love, because it seems the more I like the song, the more likely I'll attach a bad memory to it!. Yes, you do need help!. In your case !.!.!.!.!.!.you CAN help yourself with this matter!. Here's how:

Take a break from listening to music!.
Turn your computer off!.
Turn your TV off!.
Don't go to the movies!.

Get outdoors!
Take a nature walk !.!.!.go where it's quiet ---
Begin listening to the birds chirping!.
Watch the clouds roll by!.
Watch the sunset!.
Look at the stars!.
Listen to the wind blow through the trees!.
Play some outdoor sports -- NO MUSIC
Talk to friends (with no TV on or music playing to distract you)
Take a look at the world around you ---literally!.
Go play miniature golf or hit a bucket of balls at a driving range!.!.!.!.taking breaks to look and listen to the sounds of nature!.

If you are not willing to do any of these things, you are fighting against yourself and not trying to get in touch with the environment outside of your home!. If you can't or won't take control of this matter on your own !.!.!.!.!.it's time to speak to a therapist/counselor!.

You really CAN do this on your own if you truly want to!. You have a choice and the power to help yourself!.

Once you start getting in touch with nature, you'll love it! THEN you can take your ipod and listen to music while you're doing FUN and healthy activities!. The songs you listen to will begin to remind you of how good it feels to be ourdoors and being physically active!.

If you're unable to accomplish this after giving it an honest effort !.!.!.!.!.seek counseling!.

You'll get through this, but only if you are serious about doing so!.

Now get off your computer and turn off the TV and go outside and look at the sky and listen to the world around you, and decide if you're willing to deal with your issue!.
