Housing benefits in London?!

Question: Housing benefits in London!?
I'm 24, I live with my aunt, in house rented by the council for me her, and her 3 daughters, I am on the tenency agreement, but it had expired in May, but still the council are paying the rent, Obviously most of it will stop now they moved, I receive income support, I suffer severe depression and an eating disorder, am on therapy at the moment, my question is, my aunt has moved out with her daughters and am left alone in the house, I have nowhere to go, I can not go to a hostel as they don't accept cats (I have a 7 months kitten), this kitten was like a life line to me, and without him I maybe have killed myself long ago, so giving him away is no option
What will happen to me!?
what will the landlord do!?
how long would it take!?
can he just call the police and kick me out!?

thanks for all answersWww@Answer-Health@Com

You can get good advice by discussing your situation with Citizens Advice Bureau!. Yours is a common problem!. Because you are on the rent book you probably have rights to remain in the house as long as you can continue to pay the rent!. A private landlord isn't going to be concerned about your cat!. However, if you are a "social tenant" and rent from a housing association, your situation could be a bit different as they may have rules about under-occupancy!. Your medical history and vulnerability may mean that you can be offered alternative, more suitable accommodation in exchange for the house!. You are right to think that Housing Benefit will have to be adjusted - and it's possible that if the change in circumstances (when your aunt and her daughters moved out) was not reported to the local council, that you may have been overpaid housing benefit and be asked to repay the overpayment!. If the housing benefit is reduced and you can't pay the rent your landlord will seek possession!. Advice telling you to go talk to your local council's housing department is sound advice - you should take it!.
Citizens Advice can check that you are receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to and may be able to offer your the support of a Housing team solicitor as you will be entitled to Legal Aid if you are on Income support!. This should give you some peace of mind!.
Finally, no, your landlord can't call the police and kick you out!. He has to get a court order if he wants possession!. If he doesn't get a court order, it would be an illegal eviction and he could be in a lot of trouble!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no all you have to do is prayer and faith!. i believe that God test every one and is the same that he has done to you!.
dont call the police, if you do so, they may think that you are bad person and you want to take law in your hands!.
all you have to do is go to gum tree and look for some friends were you can hang out or else you will end up been confuse due to stress!. if you have any other advice mail me to josephsharka@yahoo!.com am in barking essex okWww@Answer-Health@Com

u need to contact ur council asap , tell them u need to relocate to a smaller property , as i dont think they will cover the rent on a family home for just 1 person !. but please , speak to them quickly to avoid probs , and as far as i know , no ur lanlord has to go through the courts to remove u , which takes time , i wish u luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

what a sad story, London's a big world as well, just take care and hope you sort something out soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

as you only need a single accommodation now, the council would agree to pay only the rent for a single accommodation!. This may mean that you would have to move to one bed apartment or accept only the amount the council estimates as 1 bed housing benefit!.

as for the landlord -if you are renting privately you should either extend the current rental agreement or apply for council housing asap!.

in any case meet your housing officer at the council offices and seek guidance!.

i hope you feel better soon and everything turns out well for you!.

all the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

talk to the council and re-apply for housing benefit in just your name!. unfortunately, they may see you as being over housed (having too much room) so they will be unlikely to cover the whole of the rent!. do you have a support worker!? they will be able to help with advice and may be able to talk to the council on your behalf!.
are you on incapacity benefit!? make sure you are getting all the benefits you are entitle to!.
ask your landlord if he has other properties that are smaller than the house!. and ask the council about applying for a council flat (cats are aloud in most council properties)!.
the landlord is not legally allowed to 'chuck' you out without going through the process of getting an eviction order!. this takes time and money (for him) so he'll try to avoid it!. he certainly can't just throw you out with no warning!. tell him what's going on!. get receipts every time you go to the council, so you can show the landlord what's happening!.
try to deal with this situation!. don't bury your head in the ground!. there is help out there!. and there's always citizens advice bureau to help aswell!.
good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
