Question: Im absolutely terrified of planes, my phobia gets worse and worse everytime! What can I do!?
I do alot of travelling back and forward, but the second I find out im due to get on a plane i start worrying, what can I do to cure this worry!? Ive lookd at statistic's about planes being the safest way of travel n whatever, but I still cant help but feel sick and scared about flying!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try asking yourself these questions:

1!. do you know someone who has been in a car crash!?

2!. do you know someone who has been in a plane crash!?

3!. when did you last hear of a plash crash!?

the answers are probably:
1!. yes
2!. never
3!. a long time ago, but it was not in a poor country such as africa where safety records are not so good

you are many many 1000's of times more likely to injured when stepping ino a car than a plane!

The main fear of flying is the lack of control, however as with all phobias the best treatment is face up the fear and experience it more and more!. Many of my phobias have receded due to exposure to the fear and you realise there is nothing to scared of after all!

However, a major problem with flying phobias, and overcoming such a thing is that flying is not a common experience for most people so conditioning yourself from the fear is not always practical

also remember that you are more likely to be struck by lightning that be involved in a plan crash!

I would suggest EFT!. It's relatively simple, very safe and extremely effective!. It has it's roots in Chinese kinesthesiology (such as acupuncture) and while it may be considered a sort of "alternative" medicine it is far from supernatural!. It was actually taught to me by my doctor :)
Basically, you tap different points on your body while reciting a phrase (in this case, related to your fear)!. It's a short process, about 2-5 minutes, but you can feel the benefits immediately!. Doing it regularly could definitely remove your fear completely!.
It has some explaining (where to tap, ect), so if you're interested, e-mail me and I'll type it up!.

Otherwise!.!.!. Meditation!. Not only does it reduce your overall daily anxiety, with a little practice you can easily reach a calmed state (for right before a flight)!.
I would say think positive, etc!., but as you mentioned even the statistics don't help you!.!.!. Negative thoughts can produce negative emotions, but sometimes, our emotions run deep and simple logic will not change how you feel!.!.!. Tapping into the subconscious where these fears lie through self or professional hypnosis may help you!.
And, lastly, "don't think about it"!. Easier said than done, sure, but you really don't need to think about the flight till you're getting ready for it, right!?

I have the same exact fear!!!

but as i am walking on the plane i say to myslef !.!.!.how many times have i been on a plane!?
how many times have i crashed!?
and than if you have a ipod or a lap top, i put on my absolute faveorite movies, bring 3 or 4 depending on the flight and for the most part that take smy mind off it!.!.!.if u are chrstian i remind myself that god loves me and is with me every step of the way!.!.!. if not just keep your mind on the movie, and ignore every bump of turbulance!
