What you have described is often termed "malingering" and is classed as a Fictitious disorder in the DSM-IV!. Munchausen's is one such condition!.

It is important to distinguish what you have described (which involves intentional deceit) from hypochondriasis!. In hypochondria, the individual actually (falsely) that he/she is ill!.
