Why do some people who see suicide as cowardly support euthanasia?!

Question: Why do some people who see suicide as cowardly support euthanasia!?
Surely this shows that in most peoples' mind that mental pain does not equate with physical pain!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Hi,
I don't believe suicide is cowardly or selfish and I think people need to have felt the extreme pain of being suicidal to actually even be able to comment because if they haven't then their answer is out of ignorance!. If not they are probably answering from seeing the effects it has on others if they have known of someone who has committed the act but that is like getting information from secondary sources!.
I am not saying suicide isn't devistating, it is to all those left behind who will forever probably question the why and what if, but just think how much internal pain the person felt inside to feel they had no way out!.!.!.!.you can't unless you have been there!.
A previous answerer on here said that it's different from cancer because there is a way out from mental health but when cancer gets you!.!.that's it!. I would very much question this in opposition!.!.!.Cancer has psychial treatment, operations, chemo etc and drugs to deal with pain and sickness, I am not saying it's easy to deal with, it isn't it's a horrible disease!.!.but in many cases there has been full recoveries etc!. With Mental health there is no real psychial treatment, even anti-depressants don't cure it!.!.!.what if your someone who has tried all the forms of mental health treatment for years and still feels the same and hates everyday of their lives!.!.!.!.do you think that they aren't suffering a sentence as painful )in a different way) to someone with cancer!.!.!.!.only the cancer sufferer get's a lot more sympathey and help and their pain will either be short lasting or they will get extra years of life!.!.!.!.the mental health patient just has years ahead of the same torture possibily!
I do not think suicide is th right action in any way but i understand it and tried to end my life earlier this year!. I admit I didn't think about those around me, I couldn't, I had been suffering for years and even with so much professional support nothing changed and I seen no way out!.!.!.I survived and I still don't know if I am pleased i did or not, but don't comment unless you have felt the pain!.
Suicide isn't something that people just do randomly and if it is, it's a stupid act, most people have thought about it everyday of their lives for years before they even attempt it and they aren't doing itto hurt others but to stop teh incredible pain inside!.
People treat mental and psychial pain different!.!.!.i think it will forever be this way just because there is no hard proof for many mental problems, it wont show up in blood tests or x-ray but it's there all the same!
I support Euthanasia but only in certain circumstances and done the right way!.!.People with mental ill health will never be afforded the right to euthanasia because their pain isn't seen as equal, thus they are left with the stigmatised version which is suicide!.

before I end my answer I want to say that I do believe sometimes mental illness can be recovered from, just as physical illness can but both can also be terminial!. But who's going to draw that line!?

I wouldn't call suicide cowardly, just incredibly short-sighted and selfish!. I'm actually not anti-suicide!. I can accept it if and only if it's under the same conditions as those of terminal illness!. By this I mean that all alternatives have been tried, nothing works, and the pain remains constant and unbearable!. The thing is, most ppl committing suicide have not tried therapy for a few year and have not tried antidepressants from all classes of meds including tricyclics, MAOIs, mood stabilizers and off-label alternatives!. They also haven't give ECT a shot!. It's rediculous to balk at any of these when you are opting for dead instead!. When someone exhausts every hope, then I do understand!. Up until then, it is short-sighted and selfish given the pain it causes everyone!. At least when ppl know you sincerely tried everything, they do understand the choice and can have a little easier time accepting the decision!. Shy of that, it's abandonment!. It's telling those who love you that their love didn't count for much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Suicide can be cowardly when the reasons such as depression can be overcome!. It is cowardly because they leave their family with so much pain, heartache and unanswered questions, not to mention other repercussions!.

Euthanasia is less cowardly as those who choose it are sometimes in an unimaginable state of pain and suffering which cannot be overcome and therefore they choose to end that pain!. Those who choose euthanasia are less likely to leave as much pain and problems behind as they are more likely to inform their family of the arrangements and make adequate preparations for their death!.

I do not see all cases of suicide as cowardly but believe that most are!. People who commit suicide often cannot contemplate what they leave behind, often leaving their familys in debt etc!. In contrast i also dont see all cases of euthanasia as justified either so, its a difficult one to call!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

people see the person with mental anguish as an attention seeker and/or a so called poser!. that they should be able to fix their issues and move on!. when their pain and anguish, may just be more intense then a person having an incurable disease or disorder!. people see suicide as an selfish act!. personally i do NOT see it as being selfish at all!. people all say that they're leaving behind loved ones and hurting them, but in my eyes that makes the loved ones selfish!.!. one of the common reasons for suicide is the individual does NOT want to hurt the loved ones anymore!. and though they know that their suicide may hurt their loved ones!.!.!.!.it stops the individual from ever hurting them again!. (better once than a million more times in the individuals eyes)

this was not meant to encourge people to commit suiced, but to the answer of your question, i felt it necessary to state my point of veiw!.

i am surely to get a ton of thumbs down on this!.!.!.but like i said this is ONLY "my" point of view!

my views on this matter are strong and i believe in what i have said to be true!. (in my way of thinking)Www@Answer-Health@Com

People think that "mental pain" can be overcome!.!.and that you can CHOOSE to be happy if you want to!. You know everybody has bad days and it's a part of life!.!.!.they don't get it!.!.Those that do understand depression think that you can take a pill and make it all better!.!.!.doesn't work that way!.!. the pain is always there!.!.you can take treatment and pain pills too!.!.but the physical pain always comes back!.!.but people say "that is different"!.!.no it's not!. I had someone ask me 1 time when I was suicidal "do you not care who you hurt"!.!. my philosophy is this: if you gave a damn about me, you would want me to succeed at suicide so I didn't hurt any more!.!.Until a person has been there they will never understand!.!.Suicide is to me anything but selfish!.!.wanting someone to live who doesn't want to is selfish!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

to all who have answered - take a second to think about the reasons behind suicide!. at the time someone is feeling suicidal they are in a state of mental pain!.

if you have never experienced suicidal feeling/depression then how can you state that suicide is cowardly!? mental pain can feel just as real as physical pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think these people are amazingly brave!. I'm too cowardly to talk about it!.!.!. or stop it!.!.!. and yet I'm scared of hurting myself or killing myself!.

Think about it- they are going against everything their instincts are telling them!.!.!. they are going against everything they've been taught!.!.!. and they don't know what lies beyond life!.!.!. Very brave!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

coz mental pain in most cases can be fixed or over come!.
once cancer has got you there really is no way outWww@Answer-Health@Com

Because they think they are different when in reality they are not!. A DNR is the same as saying kill yourself!. They also think it is more humane, but there was this one man who was going to be in a vegitative state for life, and they told his wife to pull the feed tube, she refused and took care of him for 5 years and awoke from his vegitative state, he is re learning how to walk now i believe!. Pulling the plug/tube is ruining the chances of the person waking up, they should ban the DNR!. Suicide is cowardly, its the easy way out of a situation, now I understand that some mental health people do not understand because of there illness and kill themselves by accident because they don't know any better, but for the people that do and just to give up on life, are cowards!.

Please less cowardly, look it up, it is a very painful process, look at Terry Schivo, that was euthanasia as well (had her feeding tube pulled), she was aware and aware and her husband was like I'll just murder her so I can marry someone else, he didn't care about that poor girl!.!.!.!. do research!.

Euthanasia: the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit!. (The key word here is "intentional"!. If death is not intended, it is not an act of euthanasia)

Voluntary euthanasia: When the person who is killed has requested to be killed!. Suicide like also known as DNR!.

Non-voluntary: When the person who is killed made no request and gave no consent!. MURDER

Involuntary euthanasia: When the person who is killed made an expressed wish to the contrary!. MURDER

Assisted suicide: Someone provides an individual with the information, guidance, and means to take his or her own life with the intention that they will be used for this purpose!. When it is a doctor who helps another person to kill themselves it is called "physician assisted suicide!." SUICIDE AND MUDER

Euthanasia By Action: Intentionally causing a person's death by performing an action such as by giving a lethal injection!. MURDER and in some cases suicide

Euthanasia By Omission: Intentionally causing death by not providing necessary and ordinary (usual and customary) care or food and water!. MURDER no on ewants to starve to death

What Euthanasia is NOT: There is no euthanasia unless the death is intentionally caused by what was done or not done!. Thus, some medical actions that are often labeled "passive euthanasia" are no form of euthanasia, since the intention to take life is lacking!. These acts include not commencing treatment that would not provide a benefit to the patient, withdrawing treatment that has been shown to be ineffective, too burdensome or is unwanted, and the giving of high doses of pain-killers that may endanger life, when they have been shown to be necessary!. All those are part of good medical practice, endorsed by law, when they are properly carried out!.
What it will become:

Euthanasia would not only be for people who are "terminally ill"

Euthanasia can become a means of health care cost containment

Euthanasia will become non-voluntary

Euthanasia is a rejection of the importance and value of human lifeWww@Answer-Health@Com
