What's Wrong With Me? Is This Just Anxiety??!

Question: What's Wrong With Me!? Is This Just Anxiety!?!?
okay!.!.this may sound stupid!. or this may sound like a problem!. i have never told anyone this until now:

my mom and i get along fairly well!. well, we get along better!. we used to FIGHT a whole lot in my earlier years, but we get along better now!.

but for some reason, whenever i'm in my room, i feel like i have to have the door locked!. i get so scared that she's going to barge in and start screaming or hitting me!.

i'd just like to add my mom has never been abusive!. she did believe in spanking but never abused me!.(well!.!.not physically)!.

i get so scared when i hear her voice as i'm alone in my room, it's like the sound of it just cuts through my ears!.

i love her very much, but i'm just so anxious, and it only happens when i'm in my room!.

what's happening!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Myself and my step father never really got along while i was living at home!. Since i have moved out we get on fine!. So i may know how you are feeling!.
If, as you say, that your mother has never been abusive towards you then to be honest i cant see that you have anything to worry about!. maybe your worried that while your up in your room, she may find something of yours that you think you may have left lying around, or something of yours she finds offensive and that is maybe why you feel you need to have the door locked!. You may feel as though she could burst into your room because of this item of yours she has found and physically hurt you without you expecting it or seeing it coming!.
It seems to me that you have nothing to worry about and that you are more worried about what might happen as its obvious you have deep respect and maybe even fear for your mother!. Maybe she was strict while you were growing up!? Or you went through a rebellious stage in which your Mother became more strict with you!?
But in terms as to whats happening now, if you are both getting on better and she has never hurt you then she will never hurt you!.
Maybe you could get to know your mother as a person rather than a strict parent!. Do something nice for her, like cook her favourite meal or take her somewhere nice!. Find some common ground, find something you could enjoy doing together, become more like friends with her, then through time you will see that you have no need to lock your bedroom door any longer as there is nothing to be scared of!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I experience the same thing in my bed room i alwasy think soem one is in the house and i panick i even start screaming and yelling!. my shrink said that its because as a child i have always feard somthing which has never happend and it will continue to happen untill it has happend!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can relate!. The way I understood it, for me anyway, is that my room is my own personal sanctuary I had a fear that if it were to be invaded, I'd have no where else to go!. Again, that's just me!.

PS, are you sure nothing ever happened in your room!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's probably learned behavior!. Remember the story of Pavolv's dog!? You're so used to her yelling at you and barging in that now you feel you must protect yourself by locking the door!. It becomes a habit!. Kind of like when you get stung by a wasp once when you were a kid, and you spend the rest of your life avoiding wasps!.

If it bothers you, try to stop yourself each time you go to lock the door!. Think to yourself rationally about why you feel you must do it!. There doesn't seem to be anything serious going on, so I honestly wouldn't worry about it myself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
