It's very interesting you ask this question!. I was molested when I was 8 years old and I began gaining weight shortly after!. Of course at the time, I just ate and ate and didn't know why!.

I became morbidly obese by the time I was in high school (300 lbs)

Last year I had gastric bypass surgery and I have lost around 112 pounds so far!.

It wasn't until recently did I open up about the abuse (I always thought it was unimportant and didn't really seem to affect me)

Sexual abuse leads to many behaviors and mood disturbances!. (depression, anxiety, fear, eating disorders, self-mutilation)

Being molested steals a part of yourself that is impossible to get back!. I think that is why our bodies sort of shut down and we cope in the best way we know how to at the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Childhood sexual abuse can lead to an array of problems and disorders!. The damage done to psychological development is irreversible!. Mental health problems ranging from borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, self-injury, and all of the eating disorder variations can be seen as direct results of childhood sexual abuse!.

It's estimated that 40 to 60 percent of people who enter therapy for an eating problem have been sexually or physically abused!. "Sexual abuse violates the boundaries of the self so dramatically that inner sensations of hunger, fatigue, or sexuality become difficult to identify!." Many survivors of sexual abuse often work to become very fat or very thin in an attempt to render themselves unattractive!. In this way, they try to de-sexualize themselves!. Many eating disorder patients feel guilty about the sexual abuse in their childhoods, believing they could have prevented it but chose not to because of some defect in themselves!. So they push their secret underground, and then distract and anesthetize themselves by emotional eating!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe it can!. First you start comfort eating and when you get bigger you start believing if you are fat, nobody will find you attractive!. So you are safe from beeing molested or abused!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is difficult to catalog the dysfunctional or mal-adjustments that result from sexual and other abuse of children!. The losses in terms of dollars and other losses are almost incalculable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
