Question: 17 and still sleeps with her mom!?
How can I help my cousin get over her fear of sleeping alone!? This past weekend, when we were on vacation (I'm 19), I had to share a freaking twin size bed with her because she was too afraid to sleep in her own bed (which was a whopping two feet away from mine)!. When our mothers came, I moved into a different room and she did the same thing with her mom!. Then my cousin suggested that we should sleep in the living room (which had 2 couches), and give our moms the bedrooms!. I agreed!. So, when it was time for bed, I turned off the lights and snuggled into my couch!. However, the next thing I knew the lights were back on and she was right up against my back!. I knew she still sleeps with her mom, but I never knew her sleeping habit/anxiety was this bad!. Is there anything I can do to help my cousin!? Can she grow out of this, even though she's 17!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell your cousin that her behavior is not normal and it will be hard to live a normal life if she doesn't overcome that problem!. Talk to her mother also if you feel comfortable, and try to say it in a way that won't put her off, and that it is because you are concerned for her!. Maybe your cousin needs to be rewarded in some way for sleeping in her own bed for a night, or for so many hours!. Just make it clear that you don't want her next to you and it bothers you!. Don't let her do it, and be firm that she can't sleep with you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Only her mom can help her!. Her mom would have to make her sleep in her own bed!. Unless she's mentally handicapped, I don't see why she's still sleeping with her mom at age 17!.!.!. Good luck with everything : )Www@Answer-Health@Com
