Last night, I got no more than 6 hours of sleep last night?!


Question: Last night, I got no more than 6 hours of sleep last night!?
I went to bed around 1:00 a!.m!.; I've done this for the last couple of nights!. I wake up around 6:30 a!.m!., 7:00 a!.m!., 7:30 a!.m!., or 8:00 a!.m!. It takes me about 45 mintues-1 hour to sleep and when I'm in a good sleep; There's the light on in my face and her alarming going off on her phone; From my mother who's waking up at 6:30 a!.m!. On top of that, I have (GAD); Which is very hard for me to relax at night; I have no medicine to take because I'm not prescribed to any yet!. I don't go back to my Mental Health Care; Until 7/17/08!. What are some remedies to help me sleep!? Help!? I look like a wreck!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are sleeping pills that are over the counter!. You can also try herbal teas made specially to sooth you into sleep land!.

You can try to catch up on sleep during the afternoon by having a "siesta" (a nap)!. Also, avoid things that keep you awake like sugars and caffeinated drinks!. Avoid exciting thoughts, like suddenly just before sleep you think you got the answer to all the mysteries of the universe!. My best way to sleep is meditating!. I 'll just lay there and start thinking peaceful things like a scenery of a forest and a cascade and think how all my muscles relax!.!.!.next thing, I am snoring like a little piggie LOL!.

Other things you can try is putting ear plugs on or use that eye cover thingie that you can put on your head!.

very rarely do i get THAT much!
I have fibro and 20 years plus of non sleep!. they tried everything, Trazadone is old school but only thing that helped!. Now they put me on Provigil for lethargic feeling!. You dont have to take sleepers if you have energy during the day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could take a Bendadryl before bed, that should help some!.!.!. never take more than recommended on the bottle!. Be sure to tell the providers at your appointment about your trouble sleeping here lately, as it plays an important factor in your careWww@Answer-Health@Com

When I have trouble sleeping I take herbal sleeping tablets called 'sleep-eezy'!. Youd be able to find something similar at a chemist/pharmacy, look for one with 'valerian' listed as an ingrediant!. Its not a long term solution but it might help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hope not to offend you or any of your other answerers, but everyone is different and just because the popular "correct" number of hours one should sleep is 8, the reality is quite different!.

You are heading toward a bumpy road when you decide to go the "doctor" route to cure what is not a genuine ailment!. (AKA, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!.)

I get maybe 4-6 hours per night!. I build and repair computers, and have three running on my desk right now (XP, Vista, Mac) plus I own a business (jewelry store) and operate it by myself full time!. I'm married and a home-owner, have a veggie garden, and am reading 6 books and two books on tape (one in the car, and one at work) at present!.
Who has time to sleep!?
Thank God I don't need much!

Oh, and I'm over 50 and in perfect health!.
(ex-doper, smoker, etc!.)

Relax! Don't take drugs!.

First of all, you can easily manage for a few days on six hours of sleep!. Second, you don't look like a wreck, you only think you do because you are angry at your mother!. Wash your face with cold water and fix your hair!. Tell your mental-health professional that you are having trouble sleeping but don't worry - when your body needs the sleep, it will take it!. You'll probably sleep deeply and long in a couple of nights!. Be patient and don't panic!. Good luck!.
Added: DON'T take benedryl OR ANY OTHER MEDICATIONS!. I was going to recommend one but, since neither I nor the people who recommend them knows what medications you are taking, IT COULD BE DANGEROUS TO ADD BENEDRYL OR ANY OTHER MEDICATIONS TO YOUR LIST OF MEDICATIONS!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh, I'm so sorry it's difficult for you to sleep!.!.!.it really makes everything else harder,doesn't it!?

Have you tried taking an over-the-counter sleep aid like Unisom!? (It is just a straight sleep aid!.!.!.not like Tylenol-PM which has acetaminophen in it as a painkiller!. Try not to put too much of that into your liver if you don't actually need it)!. This might help you fall asleep faster and stay in a deeper sleep!. Try not to take it too often or else it will become less effective as you build a tolerance!. And stick with the recommended dose!.!.!.more than that and you will be very groggy the next day!.
