Hey, I'm 44 with ADD, not ADHD!. I'm not hyperactive!. I was officially diagnosed about five years ago!. I've gone years without treatment until lately everything started crashing on me!. I was having trouble getting stuff done correctly at work and my husband was always nagging at me for being unorganized!.

I tried Ritalin, which made my heart race and Adderal kept me awake all night and it was like being on speed!. It was awful!.

I was just put on an antidepressant because my doctor said that helps adults with ADD!. I just started taking it a week ago and I feel so energetic and I want to get stuff done!.

The concentration still isn't so great!. I just stopped in the middle of putting away dishes to go to Yahoo Answers a few minutes ago!. People without ADD don't jump around like a ping pong!.

After the antidepressant gets fully adjusted in my system, my doctor is putting me on Stratera -- a non stimulant drug to treat Attention Deficit!.

Good luck fellow ADDer! Remember some of the greats had ADD -- like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Einstein!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 13!.
My parents were afraid of drugs so they didn't sign me away for treatment but needless to say, later on when I turned 17 a friend a of mine had some Adderall and I thought I'd try it!. Initially, I felt mellowed out!. Chill!. Like my body had just decided to cease everything and relax- be happy!. I started to notice that I was happy horrible trouble sleeping, I was urinating more often, and my heart was racing!. I wouldn't recommend amphetamine pills to anyone but if you feel it's necessary and your ADD gets in the way of your day to day life, try it!. If not, and you don't see any interference, don't stick that pharmaceutically manufactured meth in your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I personally believe that ADD is conquerable without treatment!. If it hinders you in your studies or work environment then perhaps you should seek means for medication!. My best friend used Adderall in college, and he did very well, but it amped him up so much that he would have to do other drugs to bring him back down!. He has stopped taking his adderall and is currently holding a job in New York City and doing very well despite his attention disorder!. I always believed that I had ADD but I have never been diagnosed!. I am quite easily distracted and only pay attention if I am interested, which according to many tests are signs that you may have adult ADD !.Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are different ways to approach it!. You have to determine what works best for you!. Some people respond well to medication, while others find that it makes them edgy and unable to sleep at night!. You can institute your own program of behavior modification!. By getting more organized and disciplined, you can reduce a lot of the symptoms of ADD!. Again, it depends on the severity of the problem and how it is affecting your life!.

About 9 months of the year, I take Concerta, which increases focus and concentration!. It also makes me clench my jaw and has kept me awake at night on several occasions!. When I'm not taking the drug, I make lists and keep a rather detailed appointment book to keep me on track!.

A friend who is 21 took Ritalin for a week and it nearly drove her off the edge!. She switched to Adderal with little or no improvement!. She started a pretty disciplined workout program that ultimately helped her get organized in other areas of her life, so she's doing much better with no meds!.

Google "ADD treatments!." You get a lot of info!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have ADHD!. I have tried quite a few medications and overall don't like them!. If you are going to do one, I would recommend adheral!. It's pretty intense, but if you have trouble focusing, you become a pure working machine!. I didn't like the after affects though, you would feel amazing for the first 4 hours, and horrible for the other 4!. Also you lose your appetite, and will lose weight fast, so thats a good/bad thing!.

Overall I would recommend Pot at the end of the night!. And just remember that you are ADD and use it to your advantage!. Although you can't focus on the stuff you dont like, you have a strength in working on things you love!.

My cousin is older and took the treatment!. He was close to failing out of college his senior year, and was all over the place!. He was put on the medication, and soon later he got his act together, finished school in just half of another semester and graduated at the top of his class/major department!. He now owns his own business and continues on the treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
