It sounds like the symptoms you are describing are:
twitching
depression
talking aloud to yourself
impulsivity (cutting your hair)

The twitching can be part of feeling depressed--we call it psychomotor agitation!. Sometimes people feel really slowed down and heavy, and then that is called psychomotor retardation!. On the flip side, you can get fidgety and restless!. It is one of many symptoms!.

The symptoms of depression include pervasive feelings of sadness and/or loss of pleasure in activities that would have ordinarily been pleasurable (anhedonia is the name of this symptom, i!.e!. without pleasure)!. In addition, you need 4 more symptoms, for at least 2 weeks, of the following to meet FULL DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA:
1!. suicidality or thoughts of death or dying
2!. irritability
3!. guilt or hopelessness that is not appropriate to the situation
4!. reduced energy
5!. difficulty concentrating or making decisions
6!. change in appeitite or weight without effort (can be losing weight and losing appetite or the opposite)
7!. Psychomotor agitation or retardation
8!. Sleep disturbance, sleeping more than usual (hypersomnia) or trouble sleeping (insomnia), or frequent waking!.

If you meet 4 of those, plus either anhedonia and/or subjective sadness/depression, you may be clinically depressed and could benefit from individual therapy (DBT and CBT are both very effective for treating depression, I'm partial to DBT because it gives you a lot of skills to cope with hard emotions in the moment)!.

Regarding your hair cutting, impulsivity can indicate that you are currently struggling with regulating your emotions, but it does not mean you are in any way "crazy," as is the case with talking to yourself!. In fact, in the situation you described, it sounds like talking out loud to yourself when you were upset was a really healthy thing to do--sometimes we need our rational voice to talk out loud to us to overcome those nagging silent emotion voices in our minds that beat us up when we're upset!.

It's as though every person has 2 minds--an emotional mind that feels things intensely and reacts purely on emotion, and a rational mind that reacts only to the facts and feels nothing!. If only one of these pieces of your mind is in charge, it can be problematic, as you've described!. The idea is to balance the two of them together, in what we call "wise mind!." An individual therapist can help you with this!.

I don't think you have a disease, but you may be having some trouble with depression if you think you meet criteria, and you (and all of us) could always use some work balancing your emotional and rational mind reactions if you feel that your emotions are a little more in control of you than you would like them to be!.

Good luck, and feel free to check back for more!

p!.s!. just saw the other comments!.!.!.unless you have periods of feeling up and elevated for days at a time, where you feel your mind is racing, you are well rested without much or any sleep, you have feelings of grandiosity or extreme irritability, are talking rapidly and hard to interrupt, are hypersexual!.!.!.!.it does not sound like you have bipolar disorder!. If those symptoms DO exist it's a possibility!. But it's not just feeling energy or feeling better than when you're depressed--it's feeling UP or driven by a motor!. Just dont start overdiagnosing yourself based on the responses you get! If you want to check diagnostic criteria, you can find it in the DSM-IV-TR (diagnostic and statistical manual); that is what your psychologist or psychiatrist would use!.

But remember, Diagnosing is not the most important part!.!.!.it's just a name and it's something people can get lost in!. Think about the specific behaviors or symptoms you are dealing with, and work on those!. You are not abnormal!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know much about you!. Do you have emotional problems like with parents, school!? Looks like you're upset because you got rejected by a guy!. The emotions you describe most people have them only they don't cut their hair!. The twitching indicates you might have stress causing some neurogical problems!. You need to learn how to calm yourself down, otherwise it can get worse and develop to a desease like parkinsons or something!.
You need to think what is excactly makes you frustrated/angry and try to solve the problem instead of just sitting angry on the counch and cutting your hair!.
Maybe you should go to the doctor and talk about twitching because it's better catch it early if it's a desease!. (I hope it's not)

You seem stressed!. Try to sign up for joga classes!. Hope you'll feel betterWww@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you are anxious and maybe a bit sad about some situations in your life!. There is an old saying: "If you know you're crazy, you probably aren't," meaning that crazy people don't know they're crazy!. Anxiety and/or depression can manifest in all sorts of different ways, but it doesn't mean you are insane!.

Don't listen to people on here that tell you you have a diagnosis!. There's no way you can be diagnosed over a computer with bipolar disorder! If you feel like you want some professional help, it might help to speak to a counselor or therapist!. If you don't know where to find one in your area, visit www!.teenlineonline!.org!. They have great national resources for counseling!.

I hope whatever's going on gets better soon!. Have faith that you will feel better one day!Www@Answer-Health@Com
