I would suggest cognitive therapy to help you determine the relationship between your thoughts and feelings and their physical and behavioral manifestations!. More than likely, there is something triggering these attacks, and you need to assess that before they will go away because unless you're fending off saber-toothed tigers like our ancestors, chances are your panic attacks are not a realistic physiological reaction to the problems you're facing!.

I used to get panic attacks all the time, especially when in public (had a touch social phobia) or during stressful time periods in my life!. What's worse is when you start having panic attacks, you start fearing them and that tends to cause more of them!. I have had panic attacks so bad that I visited a hospital emergency room thinking I was dying!. Now I do not get them at all!. So I think the biggest thing here is to put things into perspective!.

When you're having an attack, keep telling yourself: you're okay, that this is just a reaction to stress, it will be over soon!. Then take some deep breaths and try to relax!. You can use a variety of relaxation techniques from meditation to exercise!. Each have their benefits!. Meditation will help improve your mental focus!. Reading a book is a very passive ritual for some!. Taking a warm bath in dim (or candle) light often calms people to sleep!. Exercise also helps!. You might not think of exercise as a relaxation technique, but when your body has extra stores of adrenaline, exercise may be just what the doctor ordered!.

Another thing I would suggest is removing caffeine from your diet because that can also trigger or worse anxiety effects!. I used to not be able to drink even a cup of tea without it affecting me!.

Last but not least, DO NOT avoid situations that cause you to panic!. Face them regularly!. Only by desensitizing or conditioning yourself to your fears can you finally be free of them!. You have to learn to put them into perspective and understand what is threatening to you and what isn't; what you can handle and what you can't!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you don't like meds, you could go to a homeopathic doctor or natural vitamins!.!. I have tried there meds before and they don't give you the drugged up feelings!. If that does't work, ask your doctor for antidepressants(or other drugs) that work as anti-anxiety med and you don't feel drugged up!.

You could also go in the self-help section in barnes and nobles( I know what your're thinking but they really do have helpful books) and the books I have found there for panic disorders teach you alot!. They can teach you ways to cope with things in your daily life so at the exact moment you start to panic you know what to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Find a good therapist or psychologist that may be able to tell what is causing your panic attacks!. They could be caused by something external like tension at work, but you could have a panic disorder that will only get worse if you don't have treatment!. Usually a psychiatrist will prescribe a low dosage of an anxiety medication to control panic attacks if they are frequent or disturb your physical health!. I know that panic attacks can be really scary, I used to have an anxiety disorder!. Hope you feel better soon :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel your pain! They're really scary, no!? The way I finally began getting over them is by learning deep breathing exercises to calm myself at the onset of the attack!. Its like meditation of sorts; close your eyes, breathe deeply in through your nose for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4, then breathe out through your mouth SLOWLY for a count of 4!. When exhaling through your mouth, lightly touch the tip of your tongue to the front top roof of your mouth and exhale so gently that if a feather was in front of your mouth, it would not be disturbed!. Hope this helps and god bless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're may be dehydrated!. Some people respond to that with panic symptoms!.

Find a good cognitive therapist or hypnotist, otherwise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
