Surgery and meds?!

Question: Surgery and meds!?
Hi, I need to have an in-patient operation under general anesthesia to remove some rogue impacted wisdom tooth :(
I take Wellbutrin every day and Ambien at night as directed by my psychiatrist!. He is conveniently on vacation at the moment!.
I'm a little worried about whether I'll be allowed to take my regular medication!. I'm also concerned about being given pain medication, as I've had addiction issues in the past!.
Please let me know if you'vehad a similar issue!. I'm a little scared to bring this stuff up with the brusque dental surgeon, be he needs to know for sure!.
Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be able to ask broad questions about the medication issue (like are there any medications that will interfere with the medication he's giving you) without giving away exactly what medication you take!. If you do end up telling him what you take, you do not need to reveal why you take them!. As for pain medication being prescribed, are there any that you know of that won't trigger your addiction!? When I had dental surgery to remove a broken molar I was given Vicodin for the pain, but it doesn't work for me work for me so I ended up just taking Ibuprofen!. Sometimes using cold packs frequently helps numb the pain out almost as well as medication does!.
Hope this helps, and take care :)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am on Wellbutrin and when I had a major surgery (gastric bypass) I told it would be alright to crush them (ONLY the instant release version, you have to ask for it specifically!.!.!.not SR or XL)

I've also been addicted to pain medication (vicodin) and I would just ask the doctor what types of pain medication they give and if he can prescribe one that is not habit-forming!.

Hope this helps!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You NEED to talk to your oral surgeon!. You will be allowed to take your med in the morning!. So, I wouldn't worry about it!. Missing a day won't hurt anyways!. You need to tell the doctor AND hospital all of the medications you are on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
