Would Concerta ER cause a positive test for amphetamines?!

Question: Would Concerta ER cause a positive test for amphetamines!?
On July 3rd I was hired and they require a pre-employment drug screen!. No big deal!.!.!.I am taking Concerta ER for ADHD and I figured it would show up!. The MRO just contacted me yesterday and asked what I was taking!. I explained to him about the Concerta ER, and he said hands down there is no way this is Concerta!.!.!.I must be taking Coke or Adderall or something like that!. Does this sound right!? I have never taken anything in my life that wasn't prescribed to me! I was under the understanding that amphetamines and methamphetamines (concerta, rittalin) were in the same class, and would also cause me to test positive for amphetamines!. My employer is understanding, and is making me get a note from my doctor explaining that Concerta could potentially show up positive for amphetamines in a drug ua!. Am I wrong in thinking this!? Or is the MRO just being a stubborn jerk!? Any thoughts would be much appreciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Methylphenidate (Concerta) can cause a false-positive in urine tests for amphetamines, even though it isn't actually an amphetamine!. The MRO is incorrect!.

The article below may be helpful; it's a bit technical, but search within it for "methylphenidate" in Table 3, Summary of Agents Contributing to Positive Results!. The source is reliable; it's from the Mayo Clinic!.

Concerta is an amphetamine, so yes you will test positive!. Sounds like the the MRO was trying to get you to admit to taking other drugs!. A note from your MD that you take the Concernta should make everything fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's an amphetamine salt combo, so it would test positive for amphetamines!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would be interested in hearing what your Dr!. has to say!. My son is on Daytrona and Focallin ER good luck to youWww@Answer-Health@Com
