What are your experiences with group therapy? Good or bad - or both!?!


Question: What are your experiences with group therapy!? Good or bad - or both!!?
I'm considering going to an outpatient program that strongly relies on group therapy!. I am trying to be open-minded, but the idea of other sick people analyzing me or judging me is overwhelming!. It's downright scary!. Should I just keep my mouth shut (like the kid who covers his eyes and says YOU can't see me!?!)!.

Please answer from your experience, and please, I welcome your helpful suggestions on how to get through this without just dying inside!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never thought much of group therapy until I was in a group last year!. The thing about being in group therapy is this- these people are there to get well- just like you are!. Most of them are too much into their own stuff to judge you!. If you keep your mouth shut, you're not making the most of your opportunity to get help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was in group therapy through an out patient deal with about nine other people!. As the above poster said these people are too caught up in their own demons they really don't give it too much though about what's happening to you!. You will find that the people there are supportive of each other!. And by all means use this time to talk about your feelings no matter how bizarre they happen to be!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Group therapy was the most helpful part of my therapy two years ago!. I had an excellent therapist and we worked very, very well together, but the group sessions were just outstanding!. Our group was small, four people, but just unbelievable in how we bonded and helped each other!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hun I have been to support groups and they really helped me alot!. I did not want to go!. But just to know I was not alone and the way i was feeling was normal, it can be a good feeling!. Or when you hear others storys you might think man i dont have it that bad or what not!. i jus tgot done taking one and it helped!. i learned alot throug hother peoples experiences and my own!. the time line excercise is the best one caus eit shows where you started in life your forwards your backwards and the all around up and downs in lifeWww@Answer-Health@Com
