Question: How do I help a friend who wants to stop being an alcoholic!?
My cousin is a good friend of mine, and has been an alcoholic for years!. He is 37!. He had a meltdown this weekend (one of many) and broke a bunch of stuff in the apt he shares with his fiance in a drunken rampage!. Anyway, she and I talked to him tonight for hours, and he wants to get help, and knows he needs it!. I guess I just want to know where to go from here, I know you cant force someone to if they dont want!. How can I encourage him to go forward this time!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to a local AA group and talk to them!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.you may find some people who will help you!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.he has a sickness for some that is an allergy to alcohol!.!.!.!.!.they itch and sneeze and all kinds of things!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and eventually he will drink himself crazy!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.sounds like he is working on it now!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.he will be screwed up for at least 2 to 4 years or 1month for every year he drank!. After he gets somber the best place for him is church!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.right now he doesn't know who he is!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.so help him find the good person inside again!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.before he kills somebody or himself!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.all the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
he is an adult and you are right you can't force anything on him!. he should call your local AA!. they can help him and tell him where he could go from here!. Since he wants to get help now i would try to do something now!.

Tell him to go and see a doctor who will be able to give him tablets for withdrawal (ie they will stop him feeling dizzy), rebalancing the liver function and vitamins!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
