Answers:
I get worred and if there is nothing i can do then, i just tell them to concet the 1-800-273-talk number and if i'm really worred, then i well see when the last time there where on just to make sure they are ok, or i well e-mail!. I care alot about people even though i dont know them but i have been there before and still kind of think about it, i know when people e-mail just to say they where thinking about me, it means alot to me and shows me even though they dont know me they still care!. good question by they wayWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes it scares me because I know how wrong suicide is and how deep it can cut into the person's loved ones!. I try my best to help when I can relate yo someone's situation but if I can't I either just tell them to talk to someone or leave the answering to someone else as I'm sometimes afraid I might not give a good enough answer, and plus I'm confident that there are plenty others on here way more knowledgable on the subject then I am!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it's scary!. But like so many have said here, I think if we can give some type of encouragement, a hotline number --at least if we pay attention, it might give one person a little more hope!.

I'm glad there are things like Answers out there--when people feel alone, they can even reach out to strangers, and anonymously, to get some help that they aren't getting from family and friends!.

Thanks for giving us a place to talk about this by asking your question :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I try not to internalize it!. Everyone has thought about it at one time or another, and some people do it!. I give the best advice I can but I am only in charge of myself!. We have to understand our limits and not take all the burdens in the world on our shoulders!. I would like the world to be different for young people!. It has grown more complex than ever and more is expected of them!. The opportunities to start at a low level job not requiering advanced edjucation and rising to the top has almost vanished!. Hard work is not enough!. The pressure is on, pushed by advertising to have everything or consider yourself a failure!. There is hardly time to go to the bathroom or eat properly!. We have outsourced so many jobs a person could start at!. I am not suprized at the way people feel!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i sometimes think some people do it for attention like, "oh what's the point of living!?" and then you really have those that are severely depressed but we can only do so much by offering encouraging words of support!. it makes me sick when you get the occasional ****** that tells them that suicide is the answer *sigh*Www@Answer-Health@Com

Advise them strongly, but supportingly to get help!. They're sick, and often depressive states at their worst are more fatal than some cancers (I heard somewhere 1 in 5 depressed people kill themselves, and that doesn't compute attempts)!. Of course, if they don't want help, it won't work, but I hope those at their wits end know they need help, but maybe direction to get it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All we can really do is give them advice and try to coax them out of committing suicide, but honestly it's hard to really communicate to someone on such a serious topic over the Internet!. They are the ones responsible for making the right choice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No because I am one of those!. And I know where they are coming from!. You just need to be helpful and help they not and realize what they will do!. Not be mean about it or be scared of them like they are freaks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes it is scary but the serious ones dont get help!. You know for sure life is a mess and they need one new friend because all the old friends see them as they were!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The thing that scares me is that they might take the wrong advice from people who don't really know what they're talking about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No its there life and they can do what they want!.!.!. you just have to give them honest answers and thats all you can doWww@Answer-Health@Com

No, it doesn't scare me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

tell them NO! wake up to life, its good and be happy

tell them to call suicide hotlineWww@Answer-Health@Com

It freaks me out!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes it does!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi

I do worry when I see the suicide posts!. I worry most over the kids and teens who post them though!. So many are afraid to tell their parents or someone and it makes it harder to convince them to seek help!.

It's really sad that people can't reach out and tell the people they love that they are sad or depressed!. This way of thinking is passed from generation to the next!. It's as though they are ashamed!.

There are so many who are from the
"Old School " way of thinking that depression is shameful so they teach their kids to suck it in and not say a word!. I grew up in a family like that and so have many others!.

It's time people remove the video games, tele, and garbage and sit down and discuss things with their kids, family and friends!. It's time to pay more attention to one another and listen - not persecute or scrutenize because someone is depressed!.

Depression is not always easy to "Snap Out" of and the underlying causes are not always obvious or realized!. Depression does not always hit people who are undergoing social and financial problems!. Life can be very normal and it will hit!.

It takes very little time out of our busy day to sit down and talk with someone who is depressed!. That bit of time can mean the difference between life or death!.

The best way I can describe depression is that it feels like someone I love dearly has died and there is no relief in sight!.
It wears away at the soul, the mind and is physically draining because you are fighting it!. A person will become so overwhelmed they no longer have the capacity to stop it and this is when suicidal thoughts come in!.

People who suffer from depression don't want to drag others into their nightmare but they do need support, time and patience!. Listening does a lot!. It's simple and if more people would do it - maybe the psychiatric medical association could lower their patient load and less pills would need to be prescribed!.

If you are uncomfortable with talking -just listen!. Doesn't require a degree or training!. If you are frustrated because the person is discussing suicide then it is time to find a referral for them -but don't quit listening!. Suicide referral hot lines can be found on the net or in the phone book!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How would you feel, if you found out that someone who came here looking for help, and you didn't provide what you could, later killed themself!? Few people here are trained in the correct procedures: and that includes me!. Most, however, are well intentioned in their attempts to help, but those who aren't should be reported immediately by any responsible person!.

I'll include my standard post, for anyone wanting to check out those resources, who would like to either copy & paste to a blogsite at Yahoo, or Myspace, etc!., or, alternatively, save this question to "favorites" in IE, oe "bookmarks" in Firefox!.

I have compiled all of that information in section 5 over 2 years, due to the response from contributors at Y!A, and sincerely hope others here will be able to take what they want from it, and use it to help, whether I am here, answering, or not!. Feedback from those with training in this area, or even their answers to the questions of those in need of help, is much appreciated!. In that way, I can add to, or completely revamp my post, which I have had to do, many times, for various subjects!.

Realise, and accept that some of those coming here are just looking for attention, but they should all be taken seriously!.

SUICIDAL THOUGHTS: I went through a similar thing to you; it's important to realise that you are probably deeply depressed at present, but even so, you may still remember times when life was good!. Well, it can be again, and soon: but you need treatment, which is readily available; all you have to do is reach out for it!. See suicidal thoughts, and depression treatments, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris!.!.!. in sections 5, and 2!.

If the suicidal feelings become overwhelming, take a taxi, or call an ambulance, or use public transport, to take you to the nearest ER, or mental health facility, or call your local emergency number!. 911 (USA), 000 (Australia), 999 (Great Britain), or 111 (New Zealand); see the phone book elsewhere!. Don't drive, yourself: you may well be a danger to others on the roads, in your current mental state!. Too many people are found, and revived, but have suffered permanent mental damage, and live the rest of their lives in a semi vegetative state: their family, and friends feel guilty, and responsible, for not noticing the signs, and doing something about it!.

It's a very nasty thing for them to have to go through, too, even though I appreciate that life is certainly no bed of roses for you, at present, so please, get help, right now: seek assistance, or use the hotlines provided!. It may induce those who cared about you to commit suicide, as well, or at least try, with undesirable consequences!. Where suicide is involved, family, and friends often feel guilty, and responsible, for not noticing the signs, and doing something about it when there was still time!.

See: http://www!.cmha!.ca/bins/content_page!.asp!.!.!. cid=3-101-103 Sometimes, if it induces suicide attempts from family members, or friends, it can result in either additional grief, for others, or horrible permanent consequences (see SUICIDE: ANECDOTAL, in section 5, at ezy build)!. Consider this: people who have jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and survived; unanimously say that during the fall they realized that all their problems were nothing compared to the problem they had just created by jumping!. Try imagining, as vividly as possible, a time in the not too distant future, when you are happy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
