Does medication simply treat the symptom and not the problem?!

Question: Does medication simply treat the symptom and not the problem!?
Are we just "covering up" the real issues by medicating people!? Although medication can affect neurotransmitters and raise serotonin (among other) transmitters, are we really peeling away layers or numbing them!?

FYI: I have nothing against medication per say!.!.!.(I am on it) I just really wonder about it sometimes!. (Maybe more of a fear of becoming a zombie or something)Www@Answer-Health@Com

For the most part, medicines only cover up problems, but that isn't always a bad thing!.

Sometimes, the problem goes away on its own and the medicine is only needed to smooth over the transition!.

Also, medicine could remove blocks to allow other therapies to take hold!. You can't talk to someone who is irritable and has irrational beliefs!.

Finally, for some people, covering up the problem is the best you can do!. There are many problems that are just to big for any human to deal with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've been on medication and off medication!.!.!.now I am going on it again!. All along I have been working on my psychological problems (healing from abuse) Whether on meds or off!.
Last time I took them because someone close to me died!. Depression runs in my family and I am predisposed to it!. That is not my fault and it doesn't mean I am trying to avoid dealing with issues!. But I did stop meds when I felt better and time healed that loss!.
The reason I went back on medication is due to some serious stress!. My genetics cause a brain malfunction!. I need drugs sometimes to function in my life!. It is nothing to be ashamed of!. There is still such a stigma related to meds and ignorance about depression!.!.!.no wonder people commit suicide!.
I was more of a zombie without meds than with them in my system!. And I was a zombie that was dangerous to myself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think in most situations medication helps it allows us to be able to think more clearly and not be so depressed we just sleep or lay there!. ( I'm assuming you are referring to antidepressants)Www@Answer-Health@Com
