Trouble at work?!

Question: Trouble at work!?
Well!.!.!. I work at wendy's, have been for a week or so now!. I've been making burgers and sandwiches and whatnot, and I've actually really been enjoying it!. I'm being productive, doing things right, feeling better about myself!. Which is great, considering I have problems with depression and social anxiety!.

Just yesterday the manager threw me into the register position!. We only have one person working register at a time, and I work when it's extremely likely that we'll get a rush (dinner time)!. I really tried to do it, but I kept freaking out and making mistakes and within the hour I felt like I was going to have a panic attack!.

I have to go into work today, and just the thought is making me feel physically sick!.

What should I do!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Just tell the manager you are more comfortable working the grill!. I dont think it will be a problem cuz most people would rather be in the front!.!.!.so it might work out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

talk with your manager, explain your problems with social anxiety, if needed, get a letter from your therapist!.
explain that you enjoy working a lot, but at this point, medically, it would be unsafe for you to work the register and to please keep you on the grill!. explain you'd maybe be willing to work up to that kind of interaction with the public but would need for it to start on non-busy times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just a thought, if you feel yourself starting to panic, say to the customer, I'm new to this just give me a minute, or if you have a sense of humour make a humerous comment if you know where I'm coming from, or you could say, I'm just having a few problems with this, its been playing up all day!!! and try and maybe focus and think about something good in your life like when you finish work later or if you have a partner to go home to!. take a deep breath xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

Relax suck it up and get through this you will be ok !.
if your boss will let you have a cup of ice water to sip at until you get over the anxiety of the new job !.
You will learn from every mistake and know better how to handle it the next time !.
Look atthe positive side of the job a paycheck , being a productive memeber of society !.!. the pride of earning your own paycheck
good luck and best wishes Your confidence will grow with time and inner adjustment!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

grow up, money is the thing that you must know about how to handle!. Not only can you make a mistake in giving change but what if someone cheats you and you don't even know about it because you don't know how to count money!!
You Will never be able to buy anything if you don't know how to handle money!!
You customers don't mind how long it takes for you to give them the correct change, they on;y care if you screw up!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a very similar experience!.!.!.but it was in a casino, as a cashier!.

Best, ask the manager!.!.to put you behind the register at a time that is not so busy!.!.!.until you feel more comfortable!.

If she doesn't!.!.!.!.!.!.Tell your customer's your new and still learning!. I promise you 99% will understand!. We have all been there!.!.!.the new one still learning!.!.!.

It is something everyone of us can relate to!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would talk to your boss!. I had to work a couple jobs dealing with people!. I found out I don't like people so I have a job delivering things from jobsite to jobsite!. This is the best thing that happened to me!. What I am saying is that maybe you're good working with the grill and you may have people skills!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might try asking the boss if you could work in the back away from the customers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest you talk to your manager and explain to him/her the feelings you are having!. Perhaps you could suggest to him/her that you would be willing run the register during the slower times until you get more comfortable and avoid the rushes for now!. Managers like it if you come to them with a problem AND a solution to it!.

And definitely tell customers you are new to the register!.!.!.that will keep them from being pushy and short tempered with you as you get used to things!. Be sure to repeat back to them what they are requesting as you enter it in to make sure you have it correctly!.!.!.that too will help ease the customer!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try being open with your manager!. Tell him/her that you get very nervous during the rushes handling cash-that you'd like to learn working the register, but could it be when it wasn't as busy!? Let the manager know you really enjoy what you have been doing and believe you do it well!. Most managers want people to be able to work all stations, just incase there is a no show, but be up front with her/him and say you're nervous!. No need to go into details about panic attacks, etc!.
You might go in 15 min early so you don't mess up the work scheduleWww@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to your manager and tell them that you have anxiety problems and literlly can't do the job, tell him that you can't be under the high pressure of dealing with customer service face to face like that and ask if you can work the grill instead and that you enjoy and the pressure isn't as harsh on you!. I can't deal with customer interaction like that either especially when it is terribly busy and you have to remember what buttons to press, etc, and not too mention I freeze under pressure with math, so counting money back to them is hard for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
