Emotional numbness?!
Question: Emotional numbness!?
Has anyone experienced complete numbness (emotionally) when confronting past abuse issues!? Why is it that people cannot cry, even when it has affected them over the years!? It's so easy to feel bad because you can't cry!.!.!.when you should!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might hear this being referred to as "dissociation" sometimes, in its extreme form!. It can be impossible to try and pin-point the feelings and it may feel as though there is a barrier between you and the world!.
It sounds as though you are feeling trapped because of inexpression!. I can relate to that, sometimes I feel really bad and unable to 'get it out'!. It can help to write things down or to speak to someone about them!.
The numbness is a defense mechanism, because at that time when the abuse happened, there were probably a lot of different emotions floating round which if faced up to would have been very confusing and difficult to try and manage - and the same might apply now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have been experiencing this most of my adult life and sometimes it's better to feel this way!.!.until you get REALLY strong emotionally sometimes your system can't handle dealing with the past and I am that way!.!. I hate what my familly did to me but I hardly ever think about it or talk about it anymore!.!.!.!.I am not ready to deal with it!. It sends me into a deep depression and I have TOO many other things in my life that do thatWww@Answer-Health@Com
it's quite common!. also if you take certain antidepressant's it will numb your emotions!. if your not than its your brains way of protecting you until you are able to deal with the pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
